Skittles Round
The alpacas are back!
Alpaca is one of the most symbolic figures in the World Scholar’s Cup. Indeed, it is our honour to host the annual World Scholar’s Cup (Skittle Round) again on our own campus on the 5th and 6th of May 2023. This year, we accommodated more than 300 participants from different schools around Jakarta.
The Skittles round is designed to be a fun and engaging way for scholars to test their knowledge and critical thinking skills in a team-based setting. The students participated in the Debate, Scholar's Bowl, Collaborative Writing, and Team Challenge. These events encourage collaboration and teamwork among team members as they work together to answer as many questions as possible. Additionally, the World Scholar’s Cup offers great opportunity for scholars from different schools to meet, learn, and compete with each other. It provides a platform for young scholars to showcase their knowledge and skills, while also building friendships and connections with like-minded individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
A big congratulation to our three amazing Skittles Teams, as they won a total of 60 medals, including 29 gold medals and 31 silver medals. Below are the list of Skittles Teams and the members:
Skittles: Darrell, Aradhya, Yusra
Skittles: Grace, Wen Jie, Bella
Skittles: Raphael, Jennifer, Beverly
We are thrilled that three of our Skittles are qualified to the Global Round and let’s hope that they will make it to the Tournament of Champions at Yale University later in November.

Chinese Composition Published in Indonesia International Daily news (Guoji ribao)
生活是写作的源泉,而写作又会加深对生活的思考,因为所有的写作都是对生活的认识和理解。希望我们都学会用眼观察生活,用笔记录生活,用心去感知生活,那时你就会发现——生活是多么美好!
Life is the source of writing, and writing a composition will deepen the reflection of life, because all of writing is about knowing and understanding life. Wishing we could use our eyes to observe our life, to record life through the pen and perceive life with our heart, then you will realize - How wonderful life is!

Sexual Health Education Series #1 - Parent’s Guide for Dealing with Puberty
Do you see that your 9-15 years old pre-teen/teen has begun to pay more attention to their appearance? Or do they seem to be more quiet or maybe more vocal than usual? With those signs, they might be entering puberty. Puberty is the stage in people’s lives when they develop from a child into an adult because of the changes in their body that make them able to have children (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/puberty). Usually puberty happens at 10 or 11 years old, however it can start as early as 8 years old and continue until 18 years old.
These are the changes that happen during puberty:
Grow taller and gain weight
Grow hair under arms and genitals
Sweat more
Rapid and random change in their mood
Begin to have feelings of attraction
Have deeper voice
Have changes in appetite and energy levels
Knowing those changes, pre-teens/ teens need a support system that can guide them to face the challenging situation:
Puberty as well as becoming a teenager is the most challenging period in one’s life. They are not a child anymore or an adult yet, however they are encouraged to think and behave maturely while their brain is still “underconstruction”. That is why, parents guide and support during teenage period are needed.
Gentle Reminder for Parents: Lobby Drop-Off Arrangement
Dear Parents,
We would like to kindly remind you about the designated drop-off procedure at SWA, which ensures the safety and convenience of all students and parents. Please kindly note that the right lane is intended for drop-offs in the lobby, while the left lane is reserved exclusively for those proceeding straight to the basement parking area. To maintain a smooth flow of traffic and ensure the utmost safety, we have implemented specific guidelines for drop-offs at SWA. Please take note of the following details:
MS HS Drop-Off
Please use the right lane for drop-offs at the Arts lobby. The left lane is intended for those who will be proceeding straight to the basement parking.
EY ES Drop-Off
Please use the left lane for smooth access to the drop-off area at the Adventure Park basement.
During busy drop-off periods, we encourage you to exercise patience and caution when entering and exiting the school premises. Our dedicated traffic personnel will be available to provide guidance and assistance during peak drop-off times. Please follow their instructions.
By adhering to these guidelines, we can work together to streamline the drop-off process and prioritize the safety and well-being of our students. Your understanding and cooperation are invaluable in creating an efficient and secure school environment.
