Toddler Literacy
Written by Ms. Ann
The Toddler students embarked on an adventure to expand their vocabulary with words beginning with the letters /z/, /w/, and /v/ this term. Their exploration began with the captivating story "Dear Zoo," which introduced them to animals typically found in a zoo. Transforming their play area into a pretend zoo, the students delighted in rolling toy animals through mud and then carefully rinsing them clean. They also eagerly engaged with a watermelon, using child-safe knives to slice it, and discovered worms hidden in the sand, which they sprayed with water using pipettes.
Adding to the excitement, the class witnessed the spectacle of an erupting volcano. Taking turns, they poured food colouring and vinegar into the volcano's crater, mesmerised by the eruption. The class also touched and smelled different vegetables that their mums used to make their healthy soup at home. These activities not only introduced new words but also refined their fine motor skills, contributing to their developing dexterity and grip strength.
Nursery Music
Written by Ms. Melissa
In the nursery music class, the youngest learners eagerly engage in a dynamic exploration of beat and sound. They embark on a musical adventure, discovering the beat through a blend of movement and percussion. With each sway, rock, and march, they internalise the pulse of the music, using their bodies as instruments to express the rhythm.
Excitement fills the air as they grasp colourful percussion instruments like castanets, bells, maracas, and egg shakers, eager to add their own unique sounds to the mix. Amidst playful laughter and joyful chatter, their favourite activity emerges: forming a train in the song “Naik Kereta Api”.
Linked together, they gleefully shuffle and step, synchronising their movements to the lively beat, all the while honing their ability to keep in time with each playful stomp and tap. Through this immersive musical experience, these budding musicians not only develop a fundamental understanding of beat but also cultivate a deep love for the expressive world of music.
PreK Understanding the World
Written by Ms. Joy and Ms. Jill
The PreK class had a cosmic adventure through the expansive solar system. Our little astronomers eagerly explored the solar system model, identifying each planet with fascination. They showcased their creativity by painting round cardboard cutouts to represent the planets and the sun. These creations are proudly displayed, serving as a constant reminder of their cosmic journey.
In addition to their celestial discoveries, the children delved into the wonders of our precious home planet, Earth. Through Frank Asch's "The Earth and I," they listened to the heartwarming tale of a boy's friendship with Earth, discovering ways in which humanity benefits from our planet's bountiful resources.
As they continue to marvel at the mysteries of the universe and deepen their appreciation for our own blue planet, these young explorers are nurturing a lifelong love for learning and discovery.

Grade 4 English
Written by Mr. Marc
The Grade 4 students are thriving in English Class this semester. They were able to handle the changeover from weekly notebook assignments during Semester 1 to weekly OIE Student Book with inserts during Semester 2.
Each week, students have a spelling list, vocabulary list, language terms list to prepare for Friday assessments, and they complete reading comprehension and writing tasks in their OIE Student Book.
In addition to this type of rigorous written curriculum, the class spends time each week working on their spoken word skill in the form of speaking games and presentations.
For example, after studying about cities and persuasive essay text features, students were tasked with researching a country, drafting and practising a “sales pitch”, and then presented in front of the class why the city they chose is the best city in the world.
Following that event, students engaged in lively one-on-one discussions about the task.
The Grade 4 students seem to be enjoying the rigour and engaging activities in G4 English Class.
Grade 5 Science
Written by Ms. Shirley
The grade 5 students recently embarked on an exciting journey through our solar system, using an innovative approach to understand the different planets. Instead of traditional methods, they used balls and plastic fruits of varying sizes to represent each planet, creating a hands-on and memorable learning experience.
With the Sun represented by a large ball, the students carefully arranged smaller balls to represent the different planets. By physically placing the balls at the appropriate distances from the Sun, the students could grasp the vastness of our solar system and the relative sizes of each planet.
This interactive model helped the students visualise the planets and encouraged them to ask questions and engage in discussions about the planet’s features. Through this activity, the students gained a deeper understanding of the planets in our solar system and developed a sense of curiosity and wonder about the universe.
