TODDLER - Maths
Written by Ms. Anne-Jill
Dear Mommies and Daddies,
We really loved spending lots of snuggly, happy moments with you during the term break! But guess what? We were also super excited to come back to school — to see our teachers, our friends, and of course… to play and learn!
This week, we had so much fun learning to count! We sang songs like Five Little Fruits Jumping on the Bed and How Many Fingers on One Hand? Our teachers gave us lots of fun things to count — like rubber duckies, castanets, flowers, and so much more!
Sometimes, our teachers ask us to swap and share our toys with our friends. Hmm... that's still a little hard for some of us. We really like the toys in our trays! But we know you're cheering us on to be kind and learn how to share. If we don’t get it right away, don’t worry — maybe we just need a bit more time, and soon we’ll learn how to take turns with big smiles!
We also went on a nature walk around the garden. It was so much fun collecting little treasures! Our teachers showed us a number, and we put that many leaves, sticks, or flowers into our baskets. When we went back to the classroom, we counted them all together.
Learning is so much fun — especially when we can move, sing, play, and explore nature!
Love,
The Toddler Children 🌿💛
NURSERY - Music
Written by Ms. Melissa
Our Nursery children have been having a fantastic time exploring music and movement as part of their creative learning. These sessions are full of energy, fun, and learning through play!
The children have been moving their bodies to a variety of musical styles—dancing, jumping, swaying, and marching in time to the beat. This helps them develop gross motor skills, rhythm, and coordination, while also giving them a chance to express themselves through movement.
We’ve introduced a range of percussion instruments, including tambourines, shakers, hand drums, and bells. The children are learning how to handle the instruments, explore different sounds, and even play along to the beat of a song. This hands-on experience supports their listening skills, timing, and creativity.
In addition to using instruments, the children have been enjoying body percussion—using their hands, feet, and voices to create sounds. Clapping, stomping, tapping, and vocal rhythms make music fun and accessible, helping them become more aware of their bodies and how they can use them to express rhythm and sound.
These engaging activities not only nurture musical skills but also boost confidence, teamwork, and joy in learning. It’s a delight to see their enthusiasm and creativity shine through!

This term, our Pre-K children embarked on a magical journey through nature in their Chinese class! They learned theme-based vocabulary such as 花 (huā - flower), 草 (cǎo - grass), 树 (shù - tree), and 雨 (yǔ - rain), along with lively Chinese songs. Through a variety of creative art activities, language quietly took root in their little hands.
Using colourful handprints, the children proudly created their own beautiful flowers, joyfully saying, “This is my flower. I like my flower.” They also traced their hands to form tree trunks and used strips of green paper as leaves to craft their own unique trees.
Through play and artistic expression, the children not only developed their fine motor skills and observation abilities but also gained confidence in using Chinese. We cheer for each of their brave attempts and feel so proud of their wonderful growth!

“Clean Water, Happy Me!”
This week, the K2 children had a joyful time exploring the many uses of water through their thematic learning activities. With bright smiles and curious minds, they discovered that water is not only for drinking — it's also essential for keeping our bodies clean and healthy.
During an observation activity, the children compared different types of water. They learned to recognise the difference between clean and dirty water, and discussed which kind is safe to drink.
"I can see my hand through this water!" one child exclaimed — a simple yet meaningful moment that showed their growing understanding of clean water’s importance for our health.
The children also practised washing their hands properly using clean water and soap. This hands-on experience helped reinforce the importance of good hygiene habits, which are a key part of early childhood education.
Through this fun and meaningful learning journey, the K2 children are developing a stronger awareness of personal hygiene and learning to appreciate water as a precious part of everyday life.
GRADE 1 - ICT/Robotics

In Grade 1, children are full of curiosity and creativity. With LEGO WeDo 2.0, they get to learn science and engineering in a fun and hands-on way!
This special program uses building blocks, sensors, and simple coding to help students understand how things work. Through simple projects, students build moving creations like cars or animals and use sensors to make them react. For example, a motion sensor helps the model stop or move when something passes in front of it, the same way as automatic doors in stores. A tilt sensor can make a model respond when it’s tipped, just like the screen on a tablet that changes when you turn it.
Each project is part of a curriculum that teaches important STEM skills:
🔬 Science – Students explore ideas like forces, motion, and the environment.
⚙️ Engineering – They design, build, test, and improve their own creations.
🧠 Thinking Skills – Kids learn how to solve problems, ask questions, and work together.
Best of all, LEGO WeDo 2.0 makes learning exciting and meaningful. It helps young learners feel proud of what they build and encourages them to dream of becoming scientists and engineers.
GRADE 2 - Arts
Written by Ms. Adelina
In celebration of Kartini Day, our Grade 2 students have been working on a heartfelt project that beautifully blends Art and Bahasa Indonesia lessons. To honour influential female figures in their lives—be it their mother, grandmother, teacher, or sister—students are creating special handmade cards filled with love and appreciation.
In Art class, students explored the wet-on-wet watercolour technique to create dreamy, expressive backgrounds. By blending colours directly on damp paper, they discovered how pigments flow and mix in magical ways, setting the tone for the heartfelt messages that will be written inside.
These vibrant, abstract backgrounds will become the covers of their Kartini Day cards, making each one unique and full of personality—just like the amazing women they’re dedicated to.

“Be a Social Detective”
We started PSD in Term 4 by engaging in a simple yet meaningful activity to sharpen students’ perspective-taking skills—an essential part of building empathy and improving social awareness.
Students were introduced to the term “Thinking with your eyes”, which means trying to understand what someone else might be thinking or feeling based on their behaviour or body language. For instance, if a friend keeps checking their watch while you talk, what might that tell you?
To bring this idea to life, students participated in a pair activity called “Guess What I’m Thinking”. Where they tried to be a social detective. They stepped out of the classroom with their partners to find a quiet spot. One student focused on an object and wrote it down on paper, while the other tried to guess what their partner was looking at and thinking about. This encouraged students to think deeply about each other’s interests, emotions, and recent experiences—a gentle and playful exercise in perspective-taking and empathy.
Activities like these help our students develop a better awareness of others, deepen their friendships, and practice more mindful communication in everyday situations. It’s amazing what a bit of guessing and observing can do for social growth!
GRADE 4 - Maths
Written by Ms. Lance
This term, our Grade 4 pupils went on a mathematical adventure as they explored the topic of Position and Movement. They learned how to plot points on a grid using coordinates and even used Google Maps to connect their learning to the real world.
Using a variety of tools—including Desmos, geoboards with elastic bands, and squared paper—pupils practised plotting locations and translating shapes across coordinate grids. They explored how to translate polygons by sliding shapes left, right, up and down, without turning or flipping them.
With Google Maps, they identified local landmarks and described their positions using coordinates and directional language. This helped pupils make meaningful links between classroom learning and real-life geography.
It’s been an engaging and hands-on unit, and our Grade 4 pupils are now confident grid explorers and budding map-readers!
