As the Year of the Snake bids farewell and the Year of the Horse gallops into the new year. On 21 February 2026, Sinarmas International School held its Spring Festival celebration themed ‘Riding on Dreams, Blooming in Golden Light’.
Our K2 students performed the Mongolian dance ‘Ten Thousand Horses Galloping’, showcasing the magnificent scene and spirit of horses galloping across the grasslands. K1 students presented the rhythmic dance ‘Children's Sky’, each step and movement expressing their anticipation for the New Year. The performance from Pre-K is called ‘Little Horse Clatter’, a dance with the auspicious meaning of success, as the children, like little horses, ran energetically to greet the New Year. The adorable children from Nursery performed the dance ‘New Year Arrives'. The children are like little fairies, their innocent smiles brimming with vitality as they welcome the Year of the Horse. Afterwards, the kindergarten students participated in Chinese games and activities with their parents, happily experiencing the joyful atmosphere of the Spring Festival.
We are delighted with the successful completion of this Spring Festival celebration, and we look forward to a New Year where everything is as the children wish and as lovely as they are.

Our Toddler Class explored the letter B through hands-on and meaningful activities. The children were introduced to words beginning with the letter B, such as baseball, beans, and blocks, making connections through play.
The children enjoyed a fun game of baseball. Some of them confidently tried hitting the balls using a bat, practising their hand–eye coordination and gross motor skills. In the sensory area, the children searched for beans hidden in the sand tub. They used their hands to scoop, dig, and discover, strengthening their fine motor skills while reinforcing the letter 'B' sound. The children also explored stacking blocks, carefully balancing and building towers. This activity supported their problem-solving skills, concentration, and understanding of spatial awareness.
Through play, movement, and sensory exploration, the toddlers actively engaged with the letter B in a joyful and memorable way.

The Nursery students have been learning about plants in Indonesian, focusing on flowers, trees, and fruits. Through songs and hands-on activities, they explored different parts, textures, and colours of plants while building their vocabulary.
Our young explorers picked and pasted real flowers onto cardboard vases. This activity allowed them to practise naming colours and flowers with guidance. The following week, we went to the school garden to observe and gently touch the trees, learning about the different parts of a tree in a meaningful way. They then explored fruits that grow on trees by observing and squeezing real fruits, confidently naming them and sharing their favourites. Many were even able to mention that fruits are good for our health — what wonderful learners!
By seeing and experiencing their learning directly, the children are able to understand and remember new vocabulary more easily. Asking simple questions about the topic also encourages them to build confidence in sharing their thoughts in class.

Our Pre-K students continue to build strong foundations in literacy as they explore Jolly Phonics Group 3 through a variety of engaging and hands-on activities. Through songs, games, and interactive lessons, students are developing confidence in recognising and identifying letter sounds.
An important focus at this stage is helping children understand the concept of sound–symbol relationships. Students practise matching pictures to their beginning sounds, strengthening their ability to associate objects with the correct letter sound. This foundational skill supports their overall phonemic awareness and prepares them for early reading.
In addition, students participate in creative craft activities that reinforce the letters they are learning. They carefully trace letters using correct formation, helping them develop proper handwriting habits. These experiences not only improve fine motor skills but also prepare them to write letters independently with confidence.
We are proud of the enthusiasm and progress our Pre-K learners continue to show as they grow into confident early readers and writers.

In K1 Music, children are actively exploring beat and rhythm through engaging, hands-on activities. They develop listening skills by identifying steady beats and using body percussion, like clapping and stomping, which strengthens their motor coordination.
Students also play various percussion instruments, such as tambourines, shakers, and drums. Through guided practice, they learn rhythmic patterns and musical concepts like loud and soft or fast and slow, helping to build their concentration.
Additionally, joyful singing games encourage the children to practise pitch matching and singing in tune, boosting their confidence and social interaction. Overall, these lessons nurture a love for music while developing essential skills like auditory memory, self-expression, and teamwork.

In our Grade 2 ICT Robotics class, students explored the exciting world of coding by creating their own games using Scratch MIT. With colourful blocks and simple drag-and-drop commands, students learned how to make characters move, talk, and react to different events.
The lesson began with understanding sprites, backgrounds, and basic motion blocks. Pupils then added sounds, simple scoring systems, and fun challenges to make their games more interactive. Through this hands-on activity, students developed problem-solving skills, creativity, and logical thinking.
They also practised collaboration by sharing ideas and helping classmates debug simple errors. It was inspiring to see their confidence grow as their games came to life on screen. By the end of the session, every child proudly presented a unique and playful digital creation.

In Grade 3 Art, students explored watercolour painting through a fun and creative ice cream project. They learned the wet-on-dry technique, applying diluted watercolour from their palettes onto dry paper to create controlled and vibrant colours.
The students practised mixing water with their paint to achieve the right consistency before applying it carefully to their drawings. They also learned how to blend colours using the wet-on-dry method, layering and softly merging shades to create smooth transitions and a more realistic ice cream effect.
This activity helped students strengthen their brush control, colour mixing skills, and understanding of watercolour techniques while encouraging creativity and neat painting habits. We look forward to seeing their skills continue to grow in future painting projects.

Building a Growth Mindset and Goal-Setting Skills
Over the past three weeks, Grade 4 students have been exploring the power of a growth mindset and learning how to set meaningful goals. Through collaborative activities and reflective discussions, students practised setting group goals that are specific, challenging, and achievable.
They learned how to create clear action plans, monitor their progress, and evaluate whether their strategies were effective. An important part of the unit focused on identifying potential roadblocks and developing practical solutions to overcome them. Students also engaged in thoughtful reflection to assess their teamwork, effort, and improvement.
By the end of the unit, students gained valuable skills in perseverance, problem-solving, and responsible planning — empowering them to approach challenges with confidence and resilience both inside and outside the classroom.

The Grade 5 students have officially entered the planning phase of their Term Project in preparation for our upcoming Pi Day Bazaar. Over the past few weeks, they have been brainstorming ideas, conducting research, testing sample recipes, gathering feedback, and making thoughtful adjustments to improve their products. This research and development stage has encouraged them to think carefully about taste, presentation, packaging, and overall standards.
This project is not simply about selling items — it is about serving a purpose. The students are preparing their products to support a meaningful cause, making the experience purposeful and community-focused.
Throughout the planning process, they have applied key Maths skills in real-world contexts. Students measured ingredients using fractions and decimals, adjusted recipes using ratios, and calculated estimated costs. Through multiple trials and refinements, they are developing confidence in making data-informed decisions and understanding how Maths supports real-life problem-solving.
