Shaolin Exhibition
On 11 September 2023, SWA proudly hosted a remarkable event. We were honoured to welcome a talented group of martial artists from the Wuzuquan Shaolin Temple, along with participants from seven different countries for the South Shaolin Tradition Competition in Jakarta.
The event opened with G5 students demonstrating their talents in playing the traditional Hulusi musical instrument, and the string club played beautiful musical pieces, creating a harmonious blend of cultures. Soon after our students' performances, representatives from each country took the stage and displayed their amazing skills. The event concluded with an incredible Kungfu performance by Shaolin Temple.
For many of our students, this was an incredible opportunity to witness the grace and power of Shaolin Kungfu up close on the Trini Dewi Stage. Students from G2 to G10, along with parents and guests, were thrilled as these skilled practitioners showcased their moves. It was an amazing experience that brought the ancient art of Kungfu to life here at SWA.
This event was not just about martial arts; it was about celebrating traditions and fostering cultural appreciation. Through these captivating performances, we hope that our students have been inspired to explore the world of martial arts and contribute to the preservation of our rich Asian heritage.
SWA Open House
Last Saturday, SWA warmly opened its doors to prospective families, inviting them to experience the unique SWA style and traditions. The day began with an engaging parent-student-principal talk show, providing audiences with the opportunity to gain insights into the SWA educational philosophy and ethos.
From Trini Theatre, an exciting school tour conducted by SWA students allowed prospective families to explore SWA's vibrant campus and experience the energetic atmosphere firsthand. Their warm and enthusiastic welcome to the prospective families and their expertise as tour guides fostered a sense of belonging and community, exemplifying the spirit of SWA.
The highlight of this event, a first-time occurrence, involved prospective parents being invited to sit in on mockup classes. They had the opportunity to experience SWA's distinctive approach to education, with subjects such as science, math, English, and university guidance counselling led by our dedicated teachers. This immersive experience provided valuable insights into the dynamic and interactive nature of SWA's teaching methods.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to parents, students, and staff for the tremendous effort in making the event a resounding success. Your support has been instrumental in creating a memorable and informative day for our prospective families.
SWA Parents Association AY 23/24
Parents Association Gathering was held last Wednesday as a kick-off collaboration to start promising collaboration between the school and the parents for Academic Year 2023/2024. The gathering, filled with enthusiasm and positivity, marked the beginning of what promises to be a fruitful partnership dedicated to nurturing our children's growth and development. Together, as a family, SWA and parents can create a nurturing environment that empowers our children to thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Putting Caring and Kindness Into Action
Academic learning is undoubtedly essential at school, but equally crucial is the cultivation of qualities such as caring and kindness. These virtues shape students into better individuals and also create a positive and inclusive school environment. Furthermore, they foster a sense of belonging, emotional well-being, and academic success among students.
In one of the school counsellor's efforts to promote these virtues, we created an interactive bulletin board for ES students. There are two main activities to engage students with acts of kindness and caring.
The first is a “Random Act of Kindness”. We provided various activities that students needed to complete, such as opening the door for someone else, cleaning up a mess you didn’t make, cleaning your lunch box, and drawing a picture for your parents. Once they are done, they need to write their name on the paper and wait for a surprise from the school counsellor.
The second is “A Kind Friend Appreciation Wall”. We encouraged the students to appreciate their friends who were kind by writing their names on the provided template and putting it on the bulletin board.
After only a week, we already had to refill both templates and challenges which indicates how enthusiastic the students are about promoting acts of kindness. We hope these simple actions help our students to carry these values with them into their families, and society, and contribute to a more compassionate world.
