Toddler - Literacy
Written by Ms. Mary Ann
To promote language and literacy development in toddlers, it's crucial to provide enriching experiences that foster these skills. These new words are acquired through hands-on, fun, and engaging activities. The class has also been introduced to letters, their sounds, and formation.
As they learnt letter songs for /s/, /a/, and /t/, they had the opportunity to explore real items. They coloured salt on a light table and practised forming the letter /s/ with their pointer finger. They crafted apples from playdough, smelled tea, soaked it in warm water, and practised pouring it between cups to improve hand-eye coordination. Additionally, they explored real tomatoes, avocados, apples, starfruit, and other items related to the letters.
Although they are still learning to talk, the toddler children enthusiastically attempted to repeat the vocabulary, even if their articulation wasn't perfect.

PreK - Understanding the World
Written by Ms. Joy
Being a part of a family gives us a feeling of belonging and a special spot where we feel secure, cherished, and loved just as we are. The Pre-K children had a wonderful time sharing their family photos and pointing out their family members, from their parents to little babies, in their own homes. We had a special time where we talked about our parents' and siblings' names through show and tell, drew our family members, and even played make-believe by giving the baby dolls a bath! Participating in this group activity with our friends was incredibly enjoyable, and it helped us understand that we are all growing up and are no longer babies! We can enjoy ourselves, be independent, and work with our big family at school.

Week 4 is coming in a flash, and it feels like just yesterday that we were introducing Indonesian songs and singing with joy and enthusiasm. Everyone is singing and dancing as if these songs are their absolute favourites.
During this week’s Bahasa Lesson, we learnt about five senses, discussing touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. It’s been a blast as everyone has been exploring their senses in a playful and engaging manner, using everyday objects around them. It is really exciting!
In addition, we had an insightful lesson on "My Family". The students had the opportunity to introduce their family members, describing their roles within the household, and even learned to treat their loved ones with care. What a fun and wonderful way to kick off our lessons!

Exploring movements in PE class, our K2 superstars have been working on their locomotor movements such as running, skipping, and even galloping like graceful horses! But that’s not all. We’ve also introduced some exciting fitness tests as they’ve learned about flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. One of the tests is the Sit and Reach test. How far can you stretch?
PE class is not just about exercising, it’s about making friendship, trying new things, and having a blast while doing it. The children and teachers are bubbling with excitement for the fantastic and healthy year that lies ahead. K2s, we can not wait to see all the amazing things you’ll achieve this year!

Grade 1 - Mathematics
Written by Ms. Cherry
Many students get math-phobic as they get older. Our main goal in Elementary school is to build a strong math foundation and keep their enthusiasm for the subject throughout their academic journey.
In the last three weeks, our first-grade students have achieved significant milestones. They learnt to count, compare, and estimate all the way up to 100. They also learnt to write numbers in words. The interactive activities kept them engaged and excited about learning, as seen from the pictures below.
They were also introduced to ones and tens place in a two-digit number using base ten blocks. It is impressive to watch them collaborate effectively with their peers on various tasks.
Our first graders are also improving their critical thinking skills through active participation in class and group discussions, where we tackle open-ended questions. Our next target is putting their ideas into writing.
As parents, you can also encourage your child to appreciate and, yes, enjoy maths by treating it as an intriguing part of daily life.

The new school year has finally begun. After two weeks of hard work, the children are more confident during learning time, meanwhile, they are also very active and willing to participate in the Chinese class.
Learning Chinese characters is an important part of learning Chinese. As the basic unit of Chinese writing, Chinese characters carry rich cultural connotations.
In the process of learning Chinese characters, we adopted some active and effective learning methods to improve learning efficiency and interest. After a period of study, the Grade 2 students have achieved remarkable learning results.
Students are able to recognise and read some common Chinese characters, write basic Chinese characters, and master certain stroke order and norms.
The study of Chinese poems is also an indispensable part of the Chinese language classroom. Learning and singing ancient poems can not only enhance children's memory, but also enhance their understanding of Chinese history and culture. In class, students only read ancient poems aloud accompanied by music and rhythm, while reciting poems. We also made a poem poster, and in this way, let students be enthusiastic about learning Chinese.

In today's digital age, teaching children about digital citizenship is of paramount importance. With access to smartphones, tablets, and computers, young learners are exposed to a vast amount of information online, including images and videos. In Grade 3, it is crucial to introduce students to the concept of identifying real and altered images and videos as a part of their digital citizenship education. This knowledge equips them with the skills needed to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
Before diving into the topic, it's essential to establish a foundation for what digital citizenship entails. Digital citizenship encompasses a set of responsible behaviours, ethics, and norms that individuals should follow when using technology and interacting online. Among these, the ability to discern real from altered media is crucial to ensure that children become critical and conscientious digital citizens.
Media Literacy: Grade 3 is the ideal age to introduce media literacy concepts. Teaching students to differentiate between real and altered images and videos fosters their critical thinking skills and helps them become discerning consumers of digital content.
Cybersecurity: Understanding the differences between authentic and manipulated media is a valuable tool for protecting oneself online. Children who can spot altered images or videos are less likely to fall for scams or engage with potentially harmful content.
Ethical Responsibility: Learning to identify manipulated media also reinforces ethical values. Students can understand the importance of respecting others' digital privacy and not sharing deceptive or harmful content.
Teaching Grade 3 students about digital citizenship and the ability to identify real and altered images and videos is a crucial step in preparing them for the complexities of the digital world. By equipping them with these skills, we empower young learners to navigate the internet responsibly, ethically, and safely. As they continue their educational journey, these foundational lessons will serve as a strong basis for making informed decisions in an increasingly digital and interconnected society.
Grade 4 - Visual Arts

The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming, and to prepare for the celebration of the upcoming festival, the students created mooncake models in art class. The students used clay as the material for the mooncake models. First, they rolled the clay into a ball shape and then they started to shape it into a mooncake pattern. They showed their creativity and personal style by adding their own decorations such as flowers, using clay as well. It was fun, and the students enjoyed the activities.

Understanding the Feelings-Thoughts- Behaviours Connection
Understanding the Feelings-Thoughts-Behaviours Connection helps the students to be aware that our words and actions will affect other people's behaviours. The idea is that if we are aware of the connections between these aspects of an experience, we can understand how they are influencing each other and reflect on how to impact them for positive change.
Understanding the three processes could help you understand yourself. Thought is the initial part of the process and leads to an emotion or feeling/feelings. Your feelings can produce certain behaviours. Sometimes the behaviour can be detrimental to our well-being.
The students conducted a role play of four different scenarios to learn the feelings-thoughts-behaviour connection and completed the worksheet afterwards to identify each other’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviours.
We are proud of the Grade 5 students as they not only demonstrated perseverance in the given tasks but, more importantly, they showed wisdom and compassion in understanding various feelings and behaviours, ultimately fostering harmonious relationships.
