EY and ES Indonesian Independence Day Celebration
Written by Ms. Grace, Ms. Rey, Ms. Ayu, and Ms. Farah
Dirgahayu Indonesia-ku!
Every August, our Early Years community joins the nation in celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day with pride and joy. This year’s celebration was filled with excitement, laughter, and togetherness across several joyful days.
We began with a flag-raising ceremony led proudly by our K2 children. The following day, our Toddlers enjoyed fun games, while on Saturday, Nursery to K2 students took part in various Independence Day games.
Nursery children delighted in flag relays and ball-throwing games. Pre-K students showed great focus during the pencil drop and sponge water relay with parents. K1 children teamed up in a pouring water relay — a splashy, fun-filled bonding moment. K2 students, alongside their parents, played a balloon race and practiced patience and determination during a marble transfer game using spoons.
On Elementary School, the celebration continued with traditional Indonesian games that brought laughter and excitement to students, teachers, and parents alike. From the tricky makan kerupuk competition to the thrilling balap karung, students showed determination and teamwork. The pencil in a bottle challenge tested patience, while outdoor relay games encouraged collaboration and sportsmanship. Cheers and laughter filled the school grounds, reminding us of the joy of togetherness.
This Independence Day was not only a time to honor Indonesia’s history but also an opportunity to strengthen bonds within the SWA family. The spirit of gotong royong shone through every smile, cheer, and effort.
We thank all parents for their support and enthusiasm, which made the celebration even more meaningful.

“Helping Your Child Discover Their Strengths and Pathways”
SWA believes that every child learns differently and each one of them has unique strengths and challenges. Developing self-awareness, understanding how one learns best, helps them to improve their learning, build confidence, and make better choices for their future.
Through the Cognitive Ability Test 4th Edition (CAT-4), we gain insights into students’ learning profiles by assessing four areas, which are: verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning. Knowing their strengths allows students to maintain and enhance what they do well, while understanding their challenges helps them find the right strategies to improve.
These insights also connect to our BEST Pathways program, where we guide students in exploring potential future directions in Business, Engineering, Science, Technology, Arts, and Humanities. By understanding their abilities, students can make informed choices about their learning journey and future opportunities, with support from both school and parents.
