GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING DEPARTMENT
Written by Ms. Lindi
Social-Emotional Learning Leads to Long-term Success
Have you ever wondered why companies such as Apple grow technology innovation rapidly? Yes, they have the smartest engineers and outstanding creative minds; however, the key to their success is their “people skills,” which are the ability to collaborate, empathise, communicate, and lead with purpose. Those are skills that are rooted in a concept called Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
In today’s rapidly changing world, where jobs, technology, and society are constantly evolving, outstanding academic achievement is no longer enough. To succeed not just in their study but also in their careers and life, children need to develop their social-emotional skills: the ability to regulate their emotions, empathise, collaborate, develop resilience, make responsible decisions, and build healthy relationships.
To support SWA students’ social-emotional skills, which will contribute to their holistic growth, SWA is excited to introduce the Second Step into the school’s Personal and Social Development curriculum (PSD) for both ES and MSHS students. Second Step is a globally recognised research-based program that builds strong foundations for emotional intelligence and positive behaviours.
Success today takes more than good grades. Research shows that students with strong social-emotional skills do better in school, build healthier relationships, make wiser decisions, and cope better with stress. These are the similar skills that top companies such as Apple are looking for in their employees to develop beyond their companies, to reflect real success in their careers and life.
SWA believes that raising children with strong social-emotional skills is a shared mission and hopes in Second Step to contribute to building a stronger home-school partnership with you to support your children thriving and growing emotionally and socially.

It's a privilege to build a secure, top-quality campus for the SWA community.

All members of the SWA community must observe the procedure stated below to ensure safety and security:
Car stickers must remain placed on the upper right-hand side of the driver's front windscreen.
School security guards will check the car sticker and passenger's ID card. Only cars with SWA car stickers are allowed to park in the school parking basement.
Cars without a SWA car sticker will be processed as a Visitor Car (leave your ID and get a Visitor Car Card).
Visitor cars must place the ‘VISITOR CAR CARD’ on the front dashboard.
School security guards will inspect thoroughly the inside of the vehicle (the trunk and the seats) and also search under the vehicle with a handheld inspection security mirror.
For new students, please submit vehicle details via Google Form. Once verified, a vehicle sticker will be issued based on the submitted information.

CSR : A SHARED JOURNEY TO HEALTH, FROM THE HEART OF SWA TO THE HEART OF THE PEOPLE
Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) recently opened its doors and hearts to the surrounding community by organizing a free health check-up event. More than just a routine screening, this initiative reflected SWA’s deep commitment to caring for the well-being of others and nurturing strong bonds with its neighbors. Residents from RT10, RT11, and RT12 in Kecamatan Cilenggang were warmly welcomed to take part in this meaningful program.
In collaboration with Puskesmas Serpong 1, the health screenings focused on essential indicators—blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol levels—empowering participants with valuable insights into their health. SWA supported the event by providing all necessary medical supplies, ensuring every test was conducted with safety, care, and compassion.
A total of 111 residents came to be checked, alongside 104 dedicated school staff members, including cleaners, security teams, and business office personnel. The atmosphere was filled with kindness and a shared spirit of togetherness—reminding everyone that health is not just a personal journey, but a community effort.
Through this initiative, SWA hoped to raise awareness about the importance of early health detection and inspire a healthier lifestyle for all. More importantly, it was a sincere gesture of gratitude and connection—proof that when education meets empathy, communities grow stronger in both body and heart.
