SWA PKU ES Exchange Programme
Joint article of PKU ES and SWA
From 9 to 13 October, in the crisp autumn season, Sinarmas World Academy came to Peking University Affiliated Primary School for exchange and visit activities. Sinarmas World Academy became a sister school to Peking University Affiliated Primary School in 2012. Through long-term exchanges and visits, the two schools have already established a deep friendship and jointly promoted development in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere.
The welcome ceremony was held on 9 October at the "Bubble Lecture Hall" of Peking University Affiliated Primary School. Madam Yin Chao, the Principal of Peking University Affiliated Primary School, delivered an enthusiastic welcome speech and exchanged characteristic gifts symbolising friendship and unity with Ms. Rhea, the Head of the International Programme of Sinarmas World Academy. More than a hundred teachers and students from Peking University Affiliated Primary School participated in the welcome ceremony, and students from the orchestra and dance troupe also gave wonderful performances. At the end of the welcome ceremony, all the teachers and students stood up and sang the characteristic song "Five Colours of Fertile Soil" created by Peking University Affiliated Primary School, pushing the atmosphere of the entire welcome ceremony to a climax.
Subsequently, the sixth-grade "tour guides" led the SWA teachers and students around the school grounds where they learned about the architectural characteristics and campus culture of Peking University Affiliated Primary School. In the afternoon of the same day, the SWA delegation visited and toured Peking University. In the Life Science and Technology Building of Peking University, also known as the Sinarmas Building, scientific researchers explained some biological knowledge and displayed the results of some scientific experiments.

On 10 and 11 October, SWA teachers and students visited the Juyongguan Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Nanluogu Lane, and the Summer Palace. While still in the car, everyone was thrilled seeing the winding Great Wall stretching across the mountains in the distance and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. When they truly set foot on the ancient Great Wall, they were amazed by the wisdom and hard work contained in this magnificent building and excitedly took a group photo in front of the stone monument that reads "He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man". In the flower-filled Tiananmen Square, the beautiful and spectacular scene filled the students with joy, and they smiled even more brightly in the sunlight.
When visiting Nanluogu Lane, the students could not help but be attracted to the traditional Chinese handicrafts and delicacies, such as the sugar-blowing man, rabbit master, and candied haws. When visiting the Summer Palace, the students immersed in the beautiful scenery of the lakes and mountains in the park, and were amazed by the ancient Chinese garden architecture.
On 12 October, SWA teachers and students accompanied third-grade students from Peking University Affiliated Primary School to the Beijing Zigu Youth Labor Education Activity Base. They experienced interesting activities such as the bullhorn relay, drawing kites, and digging sweet potatoes together.
In these short five days, the students also studied and played games together with students from grades four, five, and six of Peking University Affiliated Primary School. As soon as they entered the class, they were warmly welcomed by everyone and formed precious friendships during their brief interactions.
On 13 October, SWA students joined the calligraphy class and paper drawing class at Peking University Affiliated Primary School and experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture. Of course, tasting delicious food with Chinese characteristics is also an indispensable part of our itinerary. With the explosion of food on the taste buds, the taste buds of local customs and culinary culture are also awakened. Weightless Restaurant Video
Before returning, the teachers at the cafeteria of Peking University Affiliated Primary School specially prepared delicious dumplings for the teachers and students of Sinarmas World Academy, expressing their good wishes to our teachers and students.
On the afternoon of 13 October, Principal Madam Yin Chao of Peking University Affiliated Primary School awarded certificates to students from Sinarmas World Academy, marking the perfect end of our visit and exchange journey to Peking University Affiliated Primary School. Although it was only a short five days, the enthusiastic teachers, students, and staff of Peking University Affiliated Primary School, as well as the beautiful scenery and unique culture of Beijing, left a deep impression on SWA students.
We look forward to our next exchange visit activity, which can bring more gains and deeper friendships to everyone!

It is a comprehensive programme that employs a child-centred and multisensory approach to teaching the 42 sounds of the alphabet, which motivates children to build words as early as possible.
The programme is also offered to Elementary School students aged 7-11 years old. In this programme, literacy skills, (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), are further developed through exposure to stories of various genres. The language exercises are combined with activities that focus on comprehension skills (eg. summarising, inferencing, comparing and contrasting) that they can apply to all reading situations.
