Welcome everyone! This site was created in order to open the lines of communication and share important information. The mission of this class is to open a conversation about human actions and their impacts on the environment. The curriculum engages students with many different topics, many currently in the news!
The National Science Education Standards describe scientific literacy as:
"Scientific literacy is the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity."
The results of a new poll, released in Sept. 2015 by the Pew Research Center, suggest that the American public's scientific literacy is — to use a technical term — so-so.
My goal with this class is to help my students think critically and analyze current scientific issues facing our world today!
