Dean's Message:

"We are glad to note that you are considering the S-VYASA Deemed University as a possible place for your higher studies in Yoga and allied fields. As you may know, the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) a Deemed University is the unique university spreading its Yogic Illumination to the whole world. S-VYASA is the only Yoga University offering various Yoga Courses, where in students undergo life training and character building education with yoga as a way of life. Here at S-VYASA Gurukula way of Education is combined with modern scientific approach. The emphasis is on practical hands-on experience on Yoga Therapy and in-depth research on Yoga at Anvesana has pioneered advanced post-graduate education in Yoga and has been making significant contributions to frontier areas of research on Yogic sciences and for making Yoga as a socially relevant Science. Since 1986 VYSAS was a charitable Institution and UGC named S-VYASA in 2002 as a Deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC act 1956. It is also the First ISO 2001:2008 Certified Yoga University. S-VYASA has 114 PhD, 51 MSc and over 410 students in various branches. S-VYASA has so far produced 25 PhDs and 21 MDs from the University. S-VYASA has published 284 research papers which have all been indexed in PubMed/Medline or Psychlit/Psychinfo. The Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India accorded Centre of Excellence in Yoga and Indian Council of Medical Research has sponsored an Advanced Centre for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy. S-VYASA has MoUs with about 20 leading Universities and Research Centres all over the world for conducting collaborations research in Yoga have been signed.

Our division of Yoga and Physical Science’s facilitates the consciousness based research, knowledge dissemination and its application through Yogic practices. Currently Our division offers Ph.D programme in research areas consciousness, subtle energy, Yoga and mathematical modelling and applications which impacts the society. We have excellent facilities for research like GDV, Acugraph, Nadi Tarangini, REG, etc. Under the division, we have an advanced research centre on Alternate energy where in national and international faculty is working on new realm of energy based on fusion technique. In all these endeavours the S-VYASA, with a keen awareness of its long-standing reputation and the need for maintaining high quality in all its activities, strives to contribute to the scientific, academic and technological goals of Yoga and its application. The number of students in the division is kept deliberately small in order to focus on quality and personal attention.

S-VYASA has its campus 30 Kms away from the center of Bangalore at “Prashanti Kutiram” - the Abode of Peace. Lying in the lap of nature amidst greenery, the campus lies sprawling over 100 acres and it is about 14 Kms from the bountiful Bannerughatta National Park. S-VYASA has an exhaustive Yoga Library with a good collection of 15000 books, videos and books. The digital library has a few thousand on-line journals. Swami Vivekananda Yoga Prakashan (SVYP) is the publication wing of S-VYASA and produced 35 Titles of Videos and Audios and also publishes Journals and newsletter. International Journal of Yoga (IJOY) is gaining more and more popularity over 4 years of its existence and got PubMed status from the very second issue.

S-VYASA has, over the years, standardized such Advanced Yoga techniques as CM (Cyclic Meditation), PET (Pranic Energisation Technique), MSRT (Mind Sound Resonance Technique), MEMT (Mastering the Emotions Technique), MIRT (Mind Imagery Technique), VISAK (Vijnana Sadhana Kausala) and ANAMS (Anandamrita Sincana). S-VYASA is also supported by one-of-its-kind Yoga Therapy Research health Home with a 250-bed inpatient treatment facility called Arogyadhama run by VYASA. S-VYASA has carried itself as a Centre of Advanced Research (CAR) in Yoga and Neurophysiology accredited by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Currently applications are invited for many programs at the level of Bachelors, masters, PG Diploma and research degrees. Prof. T.G. Sitharam is the honorary Dean of Division of Yoga and Physical Sciences since 19th January 2015, also a senior Professor of Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and holds a KSIIDC Chair Professorship in the area of Energy and Mechanical Sciences at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
