High School VEX Robotics Classroom/Lab Expectations

Respectful Behavior:

   - Treat your fellow robotics enthusiasts, teacher, and the lab equipment with respect at all times.

   - Listen actively to others and practice patience during discussions and teamwork.

 Active Participation:

   - Engage wholeheartedly in brainstorming, designing, building, and programming robotic projects.

   - Share your ideas and insights while valuing contributions from your teammates.

   - Be present during class, practice and competitions.

Preparedness:

   - Bring your robotics notebook, tools, and any required materials to each session.

   - Approach each day with a positive and creative mindset.

Timeliness:

   - Arrive on time to sessions to make the most of available work time.

   - Meet project deadlines and be prepared for periodic progress check-ins.

   - Communicate ahead of time scheduling conflicts to your team and instructor.

Cellphone Use:

   - Keep your cellphone on silent and stowed away during class and practice time to maintain focus.

   - Emergencies can be attended to outside the lab area.

Headphone Use:

   - While collaborative work is ongoing, limit headphone use to avoid hindering communication.

   - Use headphones during focused, independent work to stay immersed in your tasks.

Engineering Integrity and Originality:

   - Design, construct, and code your robots independently or as a team, adhering to competition rules and guidelines.

   - Always attribute sources and ideas that are not your own and avoid plagiarism.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

   - Collaborate effectively and respectfully, leveraging each team member's strengths.

   - Communicate openly, share responsibilities, and ensure everyone is engaged.

Lab Cleanliness and Order:

   - Keep the lab area organized and clean. Put tools and materials back in their designated places.

   - Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a safe environment for everyone.

    - Channel your energy into creative problem-solving and continuous improvement of your robotic creations.

    - Use lab time productively for experimentation and learning.

Attendance:

    - Regular attendance is crucial for the success of your team and the progress of your projects. Notify your team in advance if you must be absent.
