Resource Extension Requests
All Requests for Extension will be documented on the Extension Request Form and provided to the incident Resources Unit for processing. Extension requests should be initiated at least 72-96 hours prior to the last workday of the specific resource under consideration for extension to provide ample time for approval process to be completed.
Does NOT need GACC Approvals: Resource Extension Requests that do not require GACC approval are listed below.
1. Single Resource Overhead – Single Resource Overhead be extended when the incident identifies the necessity, the single resource is agreeable, and the home unit supervisor of the single resource approves. Utilize Extension Request Form and complete Lines 1, 2, and 4 in the Approval Block. Approval can be in the form of an email or verbal but must be documented (date/time). All Work/Rest requirements must be adhered to and documented on the request.
2. Contract (VIPR/Contract/EERA) Equipment – Equipment may be extended without GACC approvals provided personnel are swapped out to ensure personnel attached to the equipment are meeting work/rest guidelines. Utilize Extension Request Form and complete Lines 1, 2, and 4 in the Approval Block. Approval can be in the form of an email or verbal but must be documented (date/time). Names of personnel swapping shall be documented, and all Work/Rest requirements must be adhered to and documented on the request.
Requires GACC Approvals: Extension Requests that involve personnel will require approval from Host and Sending GACCs, except single resource overhead as referenced above. All work/rest guidelines must be adhered to and documented on the request form upon submittal for approval.
1. Contract (VIPR/Contract/EERA) Equipment – Request for extension of the equipment AND personnel currently assigned to the equipment require GACC approvals.
2. Agency Equipment – Request for extension will need GACC approvals.
3. Agency Crews – Request for extensions will need GACC approval.
4. Contract Crews – Request for extensions will need GACC approvals.
