January 2020!

Here is a recap of what we did this week.

1/21-1/24

No social studies

Coming back from break, we worked on creating a new classroom charter. We discussed what was important to us and what we wanted to work on during the 2nd part of this year.

"We want to feel visible, unique, and inspired."

In reading, we finished up our story "The Longest Night." Throughout this story, we learned about Wind Runner, an arrogant member of the Raven Tribe who has to complete a Vision Quest to become a warrior. During this quest, he encounters many problems and has to prove he is worthy of being a warrior with the help of his friend.

We have finished writing our drafts of our narrative stories and are going through the editing and revising stage with our peers.

Science rotations with Ms. Shioyama have started, but there haven't been many. Due to the weird weeks and the snow, we did not rotate this week but will go back to rotations next week.

We made it through division and your kiddos have learned how to successfully divide 2-4 digit numbers by 1 digit divisors. They learned through the place value chart, area model and the traditional algorithm. Now we have moved back to multiplication and they will be learning how to multiply 2-digit by 2-digit numbers.
