A few policies related to grading:
Students are primarily responsible for making up all work and learning all class content missed during an absence, excused or unexcused. While I will do my best to make as much available as possible via Google Classroom, this is not an online class and therefore students should see me immediately after returning from an absence to inquire about what was missed. I will happily work with you to make sure you don’t fall behind. I will not, however, care more about your grade than you do.
Homework (when assigned) is due at the beginning of class. You receive half credit for having it completed. You receive the other half credit for participating and making any corrections as we go over it in class. Therefore, even if you did not complete the homework or do not have it with you, you can still receive half credit!
Most quizzes will be given on Fridays. If you are absent, you have five school days to make it up. Otherwise you will be given a zero. You may not make up quizzes during class time except in rare circumstances. Therefore, you must schedule a time to take the quiz during a study hall, lunch, or after school.
Missed tests or project due dates will be addressed on an as-needed basis.
Re-takes are not available for tests. Anytime there is a test (usually two to three per quarter), I will dedicate plenty of class time for review as well as will post study activities online. I really am not a huge fan of constant re-takes for quizzes. I would much rather you learn from a low grade on a quiz (one quiz doesn’t really count for that much anyway) and revisit your study techniques (which I am more than happy to help with!). That being said, all quizzes can be re-taken once at any time. I ask that you give me plenty of notice and honor your scheduled re-take time.
