Class Information

This is a small , special education, ELA classroom of 5th and 6th grade students.

Students keep their ELA materials in the room. 

Books do not travel home. 

If students need  to complete homework it is assigned daily and they are to write it in their agenda at the start of class. 

We will have a spelling list every week with a quiz on Fridays.

Our units throughout the year are a collection of novels, nonfiction works, and essay writing. 

This is a small ,special education, 5th and 6th grade math class. Both 5th grade and 6th grade curriculum will be taught.

We do not use a class text book, but rather a note packet for each unit. This year students have a binder that they keep their daily notes and homework in. 

Students practice thier skills in math support every day. They have guided support and time to practice independently when appropriate. There is no homework. 

IXL is assigned regularly and students have as long as necessary to complete the skills. However, it is encouraged that they try to complete the skills while they are still the topic of the lessons. 

This class supports reading, writing, math and organizational skills.

There are no grades for Resource, but each students individual learning plan goals are monitored regularly. At the end of every marking period progress notes will be sent home. 

Students are working on individualized goals daily. The focus is typically  decoding skills, reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
