My Grading PROCEDURES & POLICIES
Grading:
Grading in this class will be broken down as follows:
Homework/Warm-ups: (weighted as 10% of total average)
Homework as well as daily warm-ups will be graded weekly and will be based off of effort not accuracy. Students should spend NO MORE THAN 20 minutes outside of the school day on homework. If a student is struggling please email me.
Students will be awarded 0, 1, or 2 points for homework completion:
2 = assignment is completed with obvious effort and all computations/work is shown.
Any questions involving explanations are written in complete sentences
1 = assignment was not completed entirely/little work was shown
0 = assignment was blank or nearly when checked
I reserve the right to collect homework at any time as proof of student work.
Classwork: (Weighted as 45% of total average)
Any assignment listed under classwork may be corrected at any time during the current marking period up to a 100%.
Classwork: These are any assignments in which substantial class time was given to the student to complete. These assignments will typically be handed in and graded for accuracy.
IXL (www.ixl.com ): Students will be assigned up to three skills per week to practice and one IXL “quiz”. Students should strive for an 80% SmartScore on each skill to demonstrate mastery.
IXL will be graded as follows:
IXL weekly skills: SmartScore of 0-25 = 0/4
26-40 = 1/4
41-60 = 2/4
61-79 = 3/4
80+ = 4/4
IXL “quizzes”: students will get the accuracy grade presented to them after the problem set is submitted (X/10 points).
Please note that IXL labels these problem sets as a quiz but it will not be recorded as such in my grade book.
Exit Tickets: Are short check-in assignments completed approximately once a week covering current content and graded for accuracy.
Tests & Quizzes: (weighted as 45% of total average)
There will not be corrections offered on tests and quizzes but retakes (using an alternative assessment) will be offered.
Quizzes: Students should expect a quiz at the end of each Topic.
Tests: Are typically given 2-3 times a marking period.
There will be a few times throughout the year that project based learning is used in place of a standard assessment. When this happens students will be informed and that project grade will also fall under this category.
Grade Reporting: Students should expect a printed paper grade report from me after each quiz or test. Grades can also be made available at any time by signing up for ParentPortal or upon request via email at jaccordino@svcsd.org.
