What is Title 1 Reading?
Title 1 Reading is a federally funded education program designed to provide additional reading support and instruction for struggling readers. As a reading specialist, my job is to provide students with reading strategies and individualized instruction to increase their success in the classroom.
What's happening in Room 107?
I currently provide reading intervention services for any 5th or 6th grade student who qualifies to receive additional reading support based on grade-level benchmarks using the DIBELS (universal screener) & the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA).
If your child qualifies to receive reading interventions, he/she will be sent home with a Title 1 letter.
Room 107 is a wonderful place where students have the opportunity to work in a small group setting, 2-5 times per week during Lab/Support periods to receive individualized instruction to help meet targeted goals in areas of reading including: decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.
