The VP70XD rarely needs an interaction via the remote. The most common menu changes are switching from 720p to 1080p. All other settings are pre-set and rarely get accessed.
Before uploading your video file to the SD card or thumb drive, we recommend formatting the drive. You can choose between the FAT32 format (supports video files up to 4GB) or the ExFAT format (unlimited size file).
FAT32 and ExFAT can be formatted using either Mac or Windows computers.
If your video file exceeds 4GB in size, you will need to use an ExFAT Formatted drive.
Now, let's proceed to the first step:
Insert the card or thumb drive into the appropriate slot on your computer.
Second Step:
open "Disk Utility" and (1) select your External drive and (2) click "erase"
Third Step:
(1) rename your drive and (2) select "MS-DOS (FAT32)" or "ExFAT" format, then click "Erase" button.
Your drive is now prepared for uploading your videos
The VP70XD player supports a wide range of video formats, including .avi .mov .mp4 .mpg .mpeg1 and .mpeg2 . However, we recommend using QuickTime (.MOV) or MPEG format with H264 compression for optimal compatibility.
If your video is in a different format, you can use the video editing program of your choice to convert it to the appropriate format. In our digital lab, we have several Adobe video programs installed that you can utilize, such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Media Encoder.
For the purpose of this demonstration, we will guide you through the process using Adobe Media Encoder.
First Step: Open Adobe Media Encoder and simply drag and drop your video file onto the "Queue" area.
Second Step: (1) Click on the format drop-down menu and (2) choose "H.264" from the available options.
Step Three: (1) Click on the Quality drop-down menu, (2) choose "Match Source - High Bitrate" from the available options, and (3) click on the "Play" button to start the encoding process.
step four: save your new movie file to your drive and insert it into VP70XD player. Do not use folders. Put files directly on the root of the SD or USB.
To connect the VP70XD player to your display, locate the HDMI port at the back of the player. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the player and the other end to the HDMI input port on your display. You can also use the Composite or the VGA video outputs but because of the monitors and projectors we have in the BFA FA library we recommend you to use HDMI.
The player is designed to start playing your videos automatically once the connection is established. However, if needed, you can use the player remote to ensure that the settings are adjusted correctly for your specific setup
When you press the “Home” button on the remote, the screen to the right (1) will appear.
The menu options are... Audio (2), Video (3), Photo (4) and Settings (5).
If you wish to manually select a file to play, use one of these options to select your desired file using the arrow keys and “SELECT” button on the remote.
• Language - Allows you to choose from 15 different languages
• Screen Saver - This option will generate a screen saver (Videotel Logo) to move around the screen when no activity is de- tected. Available options range from off to 2 hours.
• Audio Output Mode - Choose between HDMI or RCA audio output (when using HDMI).
• Auto Detect HDMI - When set to off, you can set a resolution which will be used regard- less of the HDMI “Handshake”.
• SD/USB Start - This only applies if you have and SD and USB card loaded at the same time.
When using HDMI you can change your resolution size from 720p to 1080p depending on what your TV is capable of.
If you wish to use the AV jack and RCA cables you can activate this output by selecting NTSC (USA Standard) or PAL (11).
There are also 2 VGA resolution options (1024x768 and 1366x768).
If you wish to set up the player to only play a specific file type, you simply need to change the “Auto Play” option from “Mix” (6) (meaning play all file types) to Video only, Audio only or Photo (7) only (there are 2 playback options “In Order” or “Random” ).
