Hello! I'm so excited to be starting the new school year!.  I have met many of your students and some of the parents and guardians last year but I figured now was a great time to introduce myself for those who haven't met me. My name is Maria Baird. I was born and raised in Spring Valley and I am actually am a JFK graduate as well! (Go Wildcats!)  I love that some of my very own teachers are still working in the school and I walk the same hallways that hold so many childhood memories.  I have been in the nursing field since 2004 and obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in 2008.  I have experience in all fields of nursing including Emergency Nursing and Pediatric Nursing. I look forward to helping the kiddos with all of the health care needs this year!

• My office hours are generally 7:30am to 3:30pm on school days. I am not in the office during school breaks. I do regularly check my email and do check phone message periodically. If you need to get ahold of me outside of office hours or on school breaks, it is best to email me. 

• The best way to ensure your student is well cared for during school is keeping communication is open.  If your child has a chronic condition, takes daily medications (at home and or at school), or has been seen by a primary care physician recently for an illness, please contact me and let me know so I can provide the best care for your student.
