"Life itself is the most wonderful fairytale."
Hans Christian Anderson
...and Copenhagen is the city of fairytales.
Consistently ranked as the happiest country globally, this study abroad will explore the role of governments, the education system, and criminal justice in creating a population of high trust, strong social capital, and happy individuals. Participants will be instructed in social capital at the University of Copenhagen, the Happiness Institute, and cap it all off by creating their own happiness at LEGO headquarters.

General
Denmark
Many years ago, my daughter and I took a pilgrimage to Spain to hike the famous Camino de Santiago. In preparation for, and during that trip, I practiced the art of soulful travel.
As you prepare for your Denmark experience, we hope that you will prepare to be more than just a tourist, but be able to open your heart and mind, and become a Dane for a few days.
Here are some thoughts about creating a soulful experience:
Create a 7-word mantra of what you want to experience while In Denmark.
Familiar yourself with Denmark's history, music, art, poetry, writing, and architecture.
Journal and sketch your feelings and experiences. (Bring a reflection journal)
Photographic pilgrimage-Daily you will need to photograph the seemingly subtle example(s) of happiness or trust evident in the people or culture.
Be willing to be uncomfortable and lean in with the people, food, and culture.
Remember this, the soul of a pilgrim includes:
Hearing the call & responding
Packing lightly
Crossing the threshold
Making the way by walking
Being uncomfortable
Beginning again
Embracing the unknown
Coming home

COVID Update Information (1/22)
Information from our program directors in Europe. "First of all, we would like to remind you of the importance of a booster shot (third or even fourth vaccination), respectively making sure that the last dose of the Covid-19 vaccination is within the given timeframe of your destination (which could differ from 3-6 months).
Speaking from our current experience with groups travelling in Europe, the booster shot is of utmost importance, not only to have the highest vaccine
protection, but also in order to be exempt from testing on a regular basis for specific on-site activities."
