Here's how to register:
1 - Choose the camp that's best for your child in our Find A Camp section. Make sure your child matches the age range of the camp.
2 - Read the Frequently Asked Questions for Parents before signing up.
3- Complete the Registration Form, to sign your child up for one of our camps.
4 - If a camp you want to register for is not listed in the form, it means that camp has already filled. Please consider another camp.
5 - After May 20th, you will be contacted with details about your camp by the facilitator. If a camp does not have 10 students registered by May 20th we will not be able to offer it.
If your child is not a Surry County Schools student you will receive an email on or after May 20th with instructions on how to pay your child's $100 registration fee. (Surry County Schools students are free.)
Books and Brushstrokes is back—and as they say, the third time’s a charm! After two amazing summers filled with creativity, laughter, and unforgettable experiences, we are excited to bring this camp back for a third year. This exciting and creative art camp is where imagination comes to life through the perfect blend of literature and hands-on artistic experiences. Each day, students will explore engaging stories or poems that inspire a variety of unique art projects, including designing and creating their own plush Fuggler creatures, building aquariums in a jar, painting beautiful landscapes, experimenting with graffiti-style art, and so much more. Campers will strengthen friendships and develop collaboration skills through fun daily team-building activities, while also enjoying time to relax, play, and connect with friends during recess. This camp is the perfect place for young artists to express themselves, build confidence, and discover the joy of creativity!

Campers become time travelers, “stamping” their passports as they explore different eras, cultures, and civilizations from around the world. Each day brings a new destination—from ancient empires and medieval kingdoms to pivotal moments in modern history.
Through hands-on activities, role-playing experiences, interactive storytelling, and creative challenges, campers don’t just learn history—they live it. Whether reenacting historic events, solving mysteries from the past, or building artifacts, participants will develop a deeper understanding of how people, ideas, and innovations shaped our world.

Ready, Set, Blast Off to Kindergarten! is a fun, high-energy summer camp designed to help rising kindergarteners feel confident and excited for their first day of school. This free program blends learning and play to build essential academic, social, and emotional skills in a joyful, welcoming environment.
Campers will rotate through hands-on STEAM centers where they can explore, build, and discover through engaging science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities. Creative arts and crafts will spark imagination while strengthening fine motor skills. Each day will also include songs, games, and structured routines to help children practice sharing, following directions, and working together.
Our goal is to create a space where children feel safe, supported, and ready to shine. Through playful learning and meaningful interactions, students will build confidence, independence, and excitement as they prepare to blast off into kindergarten!

Teamwork Quest: The Ultimate Adventure Camp is an exciting, high-energy 4-day experience designed especially for rising 1st and 2nd graders! Each day, campers will jump, run, build, and play their way through action-packed challenges that focus on teamwork, communication, trust, and inclusion.
Through obstacle courses, relay races, cooperative games, and creative problem-solving activities, children will learn how to work together, encourage others, and build confidence—all while having tons of fun. Campers will be placed in small teams where they’ll complete daily “missions” and earn points for showing kindness, effort, and teamwork.
Every day includes a mix of structured games, hands-on challenges, and free play, ensuring kids stay active, engaged, and excited from start to finish. Our grand finale brings all the skills together in an unforgettable team adventure!

Volume Zoo is an engaging, hands-on math camp designed for students in Grades 4th, 5th, and 6th. In this interactive experience, students will explore the concept of volume by designing and constructing their own 3-dimensional zoo animals using geometric solids. Through creativity and problem-solving, students will deepen their understanding of volume while applying math to real-world and imaginative contexts.

Step into the role of a real investigator in "Case Closed? A True Crime Investigation Camp". This summer, students will learn about forensic science, analyze evidence, interrogate suspects, and uncover hidden motives behind complex cases. This isn’t passive reading—every text, clue, and detail matters as teams build and defend their conclusions. From crime scene analysis to courtroom-style presentations, students sharpen critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills in a high-energy, immersive environment. Designed for curious, motivated middle schoolers and high schoolers, this camp blends storytelling with real-world problem solving—challenging students to think deeper, question assumptions, and prove their case before time runs out.

Learn about where you live with fun field trips in and around Surry County! This camp will be jam packed with tours of local businesses, community helpers, local farms, and more! We will visit 2-4 different places daily and really get to know Surry County! Please note this is a 3-Day camp Monday-Wednesday.

Interested in a career in medicine or the healthcare field? Not sure yet? Join us for an engaging and hands-on camp to learn about a variety of healthcare professions as we explore opportunities in the surrounding area. Note this is a 3 day camp that will meet at Surry Community College in Dobson.

The "Back to Basics" Cooking: 1:01 camp will focus on basic food preparation skills needed for everyday life. We will prepare simple recipes that can be used by students to cook for their families. We will incorporate measuring skills into lab activities each day. We will prepare homemade cookies, easy snack options such as pizza roll-ups, and rice krispie treats. We will have a breakfast day where we will cook "breakfast" for lunch which will include homemade biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and gravy. We will also learn basic cake decorating skills. We will use these basic cake decorating skills to make cake pops and decorated cupcakes.

Discover Your Future: Career Exploration Camp is designed to help students explore careers, discover their strengths, and prepare for life after high school. This engaging camp allows students to learn about a variety of career pathways through hands-on activities, guest speakers, and visits to local businesses representing fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, business, trades, and more.
Students will complete self-assessments to better understand their interests, skills, and personalities, helping them identify careers that may be a great fit. Campers will also build real-world readiness skills by creating resumes, practicing interview techniques, and learning the professional skills employers value most, such as communication, teamwork, and responsibility.
Whether a student already has career goals or is still unsure of their future path, this camp will provide valuable guidance, confidence, and exposure to opportunities they may not have considered. Parents can feel confident knowing their child will gain practical skills, career direction, and meaningful experiences that will benefit them for years to come.
