At this stage we should be taking the time to try out these tools and understand what they can do. Next steps is think about how we use these with our learners and ask the question are they suitable for what we are trying to achieve. We should spend time thinking about what our students need given the current situation and what is going to be valuable for them to learn in a home learning setting. Student well-being and engagement need to be high on our priorities.

Use Dualless to split your screen into two windows so that you can screen share AND monitor your class at the same time.
How to enable and safely use your Google Meet within Google Classroom. This integration allows the teacher to very easily schedule Meets and control the meeting space. The teacher can turn this feature on and off with one click. The Meet URL can be easily reset so students can't return to a Meet unsupervised.
This is important if you are planning to do any teaching or class notices via meets. Meet can then be shared with students who may have missed out on the live meet. NB. Most school will have this feature disabled. You will need to ask your Google admin to enable this. It is a five minute job for your admin and once enabled it should be ready to go without delay.

This is text based chat space that can be easily set-up. Its allows participates to share text messages, files, drawings and more. Could be a good alternative to Meet for students and teachers to be in a less formal space. Uses less bandwidth too.
Screencastify is a free browser extension. It's an easy and effective way to make 5 minutes videos to share with your students. I think this will be a great tool for teachers to connect with their students and present instruction videos. In my option way better that Meet or Zoom for instructional purposes.
