Hectors World is a digital safety programme developed in the early 2000's. Some of the resources are still useful today. The activities will appeal most to junior and middle school students.

In 2002, NetSafe wanted to develop a new cybersafety character for young children. The bottlenose dolphin was selected for qualities such as intelligence, playfulness, kindness and loyalty and he was christened Hector. In 2003, Hector became New Zealand’s new Cybersafety Ambassador for people
At the end of that year, NetGuide Magazine donated the proceeds of their NetGuide Web Awards to NetSafe to help fund animating Hector.
In late 2004, Microsoft became The Hector’s World Foundation Sponsor and the successful Hector Safety Button™ was launched. Development continued with the building of the website www.hectorsworld.com and the launch of the first Hectors World animated episode in late 2005.
