Welcome to the Superior High School Bands Information Site
We will be holding rehearsals this August before the official start of the school year. This will be one of the ONLY time all SHS Band students will ever be together for rehearsals. Students will receive music for the fall, review/learn marching basics, and learn the pregame and halftime shows for the football season games.
Uniforms will also be issued during band camp rehearsals to those who were not outfitted during the 4th of July camp or if any upper classmen need new fittings. It is important that everyone attend these rehearsals in order to be ready for the beginning of the year. Please plan to be here and be ready to work! The rehearsal schedule is listed below.

DO NOT: wear flip flops or slides, eat/drink sugary foods or energy drinks, wear long pants unless needed.
Band camp and Freshman Orientation
Students who have signed up for the new “Freshman Orientation” should plan on going to the orientation Wednesday, August 20 as scheduled 8am -12pm, and then returning to band camp in the afternoon. This orientation is an excellent time for freshman to learn things that they might need for the upcoming year at SHS.
Band Camp and Extracurriculars
Students who are involved in extracurricular activities (i.e., football, golf, swim, cc, etc.) will have to plan with their coaches on splitting their time between marching band camp and other practices. Students should plan on going to all practices and then coming late to band or leaving from band camp to go to another practice during the day. Students having games during these times should report these conflicts to Mr. Eaton days ahead of time and prior to camp.
Freshman Football/Cheerleaders and Friday Night Games
All Freshman football players WILL be expected to attend Friday night varsity football games with the band. They will finish their game, see parents/family, shower, eat and then put on their marching band uniform and get instruments and music. They will then come out to the field and join the band. MOST freshman football players are able to make the pre-game band performance after all of this. We will work with the players and families as best as we can.
FRIDAY/GAME DAY REHEARSALS
Friday's when there is a football game, we will be holding FULL band rehearsals on the football field turf during 6th and 7th hours. This year, 2025, we will only be doing this 3 times, Sept. 19th, 26th and Oct. 10th. ALL BAND students will be attending and will be excused from those classes for that day, BUT will still be responsible for any missed work at that time.
If you have any questions about this contact Mr. Eaton. It is VERY important that our students participate in as many extracurricular activities as possible. We have up to 50% of band students participating in extracurricular activities during any season, and we are very proud of that number! I will do all I can to accommodate students given the awareness of conflicts.
Students not attending some portion of Band Camp may not be able to participate in certain marching band performances until they have learned music and drill.
