This resource page will provide you several instructional guides and details on how to access some of our tools and services for new and returning students.
The Continuing Education program holds classes throughout the year under three specific terms:
Fall - September 1 through December 31
Spring - January 1 through April 30
Summer - May 1 through August 31
All of our current course offerings can be found at the SUNY Ulster Continuing Ed website. We will outline how to navigate the website below.
When you first arrive at the Continuing Education home page, you can choose from one of our program areas under the Course Offerings & Information title. Click on "Find Courses" to get information about that program area.
On the main program page, scroll down to read more about the overall program, Career Path related information and links to the various program sections for you to see what we currently have to offer.
Current course offerings are listed with Course Title, Description and the specific course details such as dates and pricing information. To register, click on the Course Number. This will add the course into a "cart" so that you can prepare to enter your personal information and pay for the class. If you are taken to a page that indicates the course is unavailable, then the class may have already started, or the class is full. If you're having any other issues, contact our registration team at 845-339-2025, M-F 9am-5pm.
The SUNY Portal is the main dashboard for students. To access the portal you will need login credentials which consists of a username and a password. If this is the very first time you are accessing the portal, please follow the steps below.
To begin, go to my.sunyulster.edu. You'll be prompted to enter in your Username and Password, which you may have already received via email. Note that your U# can also be used as your username.
If you haven't received it or if you need to reset your password to something new, click on the "Get or Reset Your Password" link.
If you have chosen to reset your password, you will be walked through the reset process.
In order to reset your password you will need your SUNY Ulster ID number (also referred to as your U#). You can find this number on the receipt that you received when you registered for class or from an email that was sent to you. Enter in the full ID number (including the "U"), enter in your full name, and lastly, enter in an email address that you used to register with. Do not use a SUNY email address if you already have one. After you click the Submit button, wait a few minutes for an email which will provide you a new password. Follow the login steps and use your new password.

The SUNY Portal dashboard will give you access to several tools depending on what you may need. Please note that you may have limited access to some sections of the Portal depending on the program you are registered for and whether those tools have been assigned to you to access. This may include your SUNY email, class schedule, and/or online course tools such as Brightspace.
We have an online video tutorial available for you to learn how to navigate the portal.
If you registered for a course that utilizes our Brightspace tool, you'll need to login to our portal (see instructions above). Once you are logged in, you'll want to click on the Brightspace logo in the top right corner.
Once you are in BlackBoard, look for your courses under the "My Courses" heading.
SUNY Ulster may have some existing Scholarships, Grants or other funds available for students who are looking to enroll in one of our programs.
I'm a Brand New Student
If you've never taken a course at SUNY Ulster and do not have any login information, we'll need to have you create an account before you can apply for a Scholarship. Register here for a new account. After you receive an email confirmation with your U#, follow the steps above in the How to Login to the SUNY Portal section. Once you have your credentials go to the steps below.

I'm an Existing Student and I can Log in to the Portal
Have your SUNY login credentials ready and follow the steps below to submit an application.
To get started, go to https://sunyulster.academicworks.com/users/sign_in and click on the "Sign In..." button.
Courses: Is there a deadline to register for a course?
As long as there is space available in the course, you may register right up until the day before the course begins. We do encourage students to register as soon as they know they want to be part of that course since low enrollment courses may be cancelled.
Courses: Can I get a refund if I decide I can't attend the course I registered for?
The policy for continuing education courses is as follows: Full refunds are issued up to two weeks prior to class. For refund requests less than two weeks prior to the start of class there will be a prorated administrative fee of 25% of the cost of the class. No refunds will be granted on or after the start date of the class. If SUNY Ulster cancels a course prior to the first day, students will be issued a full refund. Courses cancelled within the run of the course will receive a pro-rated refund.
COVID: What are the current policies regarding student vaccinations and masks?
SUNY requires that all students are fully vaccinated if you are attending an in-person course. Masks are required for all students, staff, and instructors while on campus at Stone Ridge or the Kingston Center.
