Counseling Services

The Sun Prairie School District works together with Journey Mental Health to provide a school-based program that is designed to reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and behavioral problems.

All 6th grade students are invited to participate in the screening. We interview students and provide more services to individuals who we think would benefit.

Screening Timeline:

  • End of September: Passive Consent sent out.

  • October: Screenings in all 6th grade classes.

  • November - December: Interviewing.

  • January - February: Groups start running

If you have any questions regarding CBITs please contact the school Psychologist, Lauren Meyer.

Groups

Student Services will provide groups throughout the school year that may fit a need for a certain group of students.

Groups range from a stress and coping group to a grief group. These groups usually are run for 6 - 8 weeks and are facilitated with an outside agency.

Past Groups:

  • Stress and Coping

  • Resiliency

  • Girls

  • Grief

If you have any questions regarding groups, please contact anyone in student services.

Behavioral Health

Patrick Marsh Middle School has the privilege to work with an outside mental health agency to provide a behavioral health counseling option for students.

The behavioral health counselor will work closely with the social worker to provide mental health counseling supports to students who meet certain criteria.

If you have any questions regarding behavior health program, please contact the social worker, Tara Wedel.

Individual Counseling

Student services provides one-on-one counseling for students who would benefit from extra, tier two or tier three behavioral or emotional support. Each student services member can provide basic social and emotional support, but does not and can not provide an indepth counseling service.

We can provide support and guidance on how to move forward in finding a mental health counselor that would fit best for the student.

If you have any questions regarding individual counseling, please reach out to any student services member.
