What is probation? Requirements to remain in the AVID program include maintaining the following: 90% attendance, a 2.8 GPA or higher, an organized binder, being prepared to participate in tutorials (with a TRF) twice weekly, and showcasing excellent citizenship.
How long will the probation period last? The probationary period will begin at the start of a new trimester. At the end of the trimester, the AVID Site Team will consider the student's improvement and review the status of the student in the AVID Elective Program.
What support will my student receive? Students will receive a Plan of Improvement, and participate in four checkpoint meetings throughout the trimester with the Site Coordinator in order to discuss their progress. Please see "Important Dates" (above) for specific checkpoint dates. Additionally, SHS has many after school academic support programs available for all students.
If you have additional questions, please reach out to Mrs Jimenez or your child's AVID Elective teacher.
