A TEACHER views Google Classroom as a place to lesson plan, communicate with students and parents (sending emails to parents), and to assign work to students.

A STUDENT views Google Classroom as a place to see assignments (Classroom Calendar), complete assignments, and communicate with their teacher. Students will receive a "class code" to join the classroom.

A PARENT views Google Classroom as a place to see what is going on in their child's classes. Parents will NOT join their child's Google Classroom. Parents will receive an email notification (daily, weekly, or never) about what is going on in their child's class (not a code). Those items could be an announcement, assignment, or question for the class. The screenshot below provides a sample email notification of what a parent might get from their child's Google Classroom. The parent will initially get an email invitation to receive email notifications about their child.
