Over the next week, our school counseling lessons will focus on the CORE value of Order, with an emphasis on developing self-control. Students will learn what self-control means, what they are in control of (their words and actions), and how using self-control helps them stay focused and accomplish tasks. We will also talk about recognizing and managing emotions in healthy ways and will review several coping skills students can use when they begin to feel frustrated or overwhelmed. Our goal is to help students build positive habits that support their behavior, problem-solving, and emotional well-being. Families can help reinforce these concepts at home by talking with their child about how they show self-control or which coping skills work best for them. If you have any questions about our upcoming lessons, please feel free to reach out.
Permission slips for small group counseling are also being sent home with select students. Small group counseling provides a supportive setting where students can practice skills, build connections with peers, and receive extra guidance in areas such as friendship, coping skills, or managing emotions. These groups are designed to complement classroom lessons while giving students more individualized support.
We have started administering some practice tests for ILEARN. These practice tests will be administered to all 3rd-5th grade students following fall break. November will be our first ILEARN Checkpoint. Please be on the lookout for more information.
