An MFP image processor was completed and sample verified in November 2012.
This processor incorporates a PowerPC440 core running at 800Mhz using IBM's 90nm process technology, with advanced memory and peripheral control subsystems, and hard-wired imaging pipeline including:
a scanner imaging pipeline to perform multi-channel data formatting, shading correction, gamma correction, optical distortion correction, and flexible timing control to support a wide range of AFE devices.
an imaging pipeline to perform high-speed text/graphics segmentation, adaptive smooth/sharpening filtering based on the segmentation result, alpha channel creation, RGB-to-RGB or RGB-to-CMYK color correction, JPEG compression, adaptive dithering by hybrid threshold array and error diffusion and JBIG image compression.
a printer controller to provide multi-channel real-time JPEG image decompression, edge smoothing by multi-bit dot size control and high-speed DMA data transfer to the printer engine with flexible timing control.
This processor can deliver up to 100M pixel/second or 60 page/minute sustained color image throughput for scan-to-print, scan-to-PDF or OCR applications.
