The Gamecock FBLA Chapter successfully organized a hygiene item collection drive for Croswell Children's Home in Sumter. Through generous donations from students, faculty, and local businesses, we collected essential hygiene products like toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and deodorant for the children at the home. This initiative not only provided much-needed supplies but also gave our members an opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork skills while giving back to the community.
This community service project has been ongoing since the end of October. Its purpose is to provide homeless individuals in our community with access to clean, new socks. Additionally, we collected socks for residents of local nursing homes. Our officers proposed this initiative and made it possible with the support of the president. The two drop-off locations were Mr. Shannon's and Mrs. Johnson's classrooms. We collected socks of all sizes.
Our club started an initiative to collect 1,000 cans to honor Sumter High Alumni Tylee Craft after he lost his fight against cancer. SHS FBLA also collaborated with 2 local businesses to help donate to this cause additionally these cans were donated to Sumter United Ministries, a local food bank to help feed the homeless of Sumter.
Our club participated in sending Christmas cards to senior citizens in our community. Our club personally handed out cards to many residents at “The Gardens At Sumter” which is assisted living in our community. The residents loved it and it helped some of our executive council learn the true meaning of giving back to the community that raised you. The members wrote the cards the day before.
