High-School Coursework

South Carolina high-school students must complete a total of 24 units during their 4-year tenure before they can earn a high-school diploma. This includes 4 units of english and math, 3 units of science, 1 unit of U.S. history, half-units in government and economics, 1 unit of social studies, 1 unit of physical education or JROTC, 1 unit of computer science, 1 unit of modern language or career education, and 7 units in electives. Crestwood High School offers numerous elective courses in the arts, including art, band, chorus, dance, and more; career and technology education, including athletic training, computer programming, culinary arts, entrepreneurship, web design, and more. Career & Technology Center

The Sumter County Career & Technology Center allows high-school students to enroll in a variety of programs of study, to include automotive, cosmetology, culinary arts, medical and mechatronics, for high-school credit. Students are transported to the SCTC daily for two blocks of coursework.

DUAL-ENROLLMENT

The dual-enrollment program allows high-school juniors and seniors to complete college coursework for both high-school and college credit. College professors from Central Carolina Technical College and USC Sumter teach classes on the high-school and college campuses. EARLY COLLEGE

The early college program allows high-school juniors to enroll full-time at Central Carolina Technical College or USC Sumter to complete college coursework for dual credit. Students have the opportunity to complete an Associate's Degree prior to high-school graduation.

VIRTUAL SC ONLINE

VirtualSC is a free state-sponsored online program serving students currently attending public, private and home schools in grades 7-12 and Adult Education Programs. Students can enroll in virtual courses in addition to their four-block schedule at CHS. Courses are also offered during the summer. This allows students to take additional courses to expedite their graduation and/or early college admittance.
