Welcome to the Speech Team!

The Portland High School Speech and Debate Team promotes critical thinking skills, communication skills, and teamwork to help prepare students to be productive and engaged citizens.

The team was founded in 2000 and became a National Charter School in 2008.
As of Fall 2026, PHS has 100 District Champions, 25 State Champions,
8 Academic All-Americans, and 11 National Qualifiers.

The team was 2022-2023 leading chapter (highest honor awarded in a year)
