TL;DR
Alannah ‘alannah’ Gomezel (‘alannah’) breached Article 3.9. of the Riot Games Esports Global Code of Conduct (hereinafter referred to as the “Global Code of Conduct'') for sending vulgar messages via VALORANT in-game chat to Game Changers OCE players. Consequently, Alannah is suspended from participating in all Riot Games Esports competitions, including official and 3rd party tournaments, for three (3) matches with immediate effect.
TIMELINE
The below is a summary of the findings. While all facts and evidence available were considered, the below refers only to what is considered necessary to explain the reasoning of the case.
On July 9th, 2024, Summoners’ Society was made aware that alannah had sent messages via VALORANT in-game chat to Game Changers OCE players that contained vulgar language. Consequently, an investigation was opened regarding the matter.
It was found that alannah had sent vulgar messages via VALORANT in-game chat to Game Changers OCE players.
In the view of the above, on July 26th, 2024, formal disciplinary proceedings were opened against alannah and alannah was provided with an opportunity to conduct an interview and to submit a written statement.
On July 31st, 2024, an interview was conducted with alannah, and on the same day, alannah submitted a written statement.
RELEVANT RULE
Esports professionals must abide by the Global Code of Conduct. In particular, the below article is relevant to the present case.
3.9 Vulgar, Provocative, or Hateful Acts.
Esports Professionals may not use words, gestures, digital or physical objects, or any other means to transmit messages that are obscene, vulgar, provocative, hateful, racist, insulting, threatening, abusive, libelous, slanderous, defamatory, or otherwise offensive or objectionable. Esports Professionals may not use such prohibited communications on social media, during any public-facing events (such as streaming), or in circumstances that could be associated with Riot, our affiliates, our game titles, or other properties.
RULING
After conducting an investigation, it was found that alannah breached Article 3.9 of the Global Code of Conduct for sending vulgar messages via VALORANT in-game chat to other Game Changers OCE players.
When passing its ruling, the specific circumstances of this case, the seriousness of the offense committed, as well as all aggravating and mitigating circumstances were taken into consideration. The below summarizes the most relevant findings only.
When assessing the severity of the case, alannah’s prompt admission of guilt and commitment to improvement was taken into account. Furthermore, in the submitted statement, alannah was apologetic and expressed remorse regarding the messages.
In view of the above, alannah is suspended from participating in all Riot Games Esports competitions, including official and 3rd party tournaments, for three (3) matches with immediate effect.
Furthermore, alannah is reminded that any further failure to meet the expectations set out in the Global Code of Conduct may result in escalated penalties.
