Dear Summit Friends,
The magic of Summit is hard to capture in words, but here goes nothing. With the start of the school year comes the wonderful hum of a Montessori school finding its rhythm again and it is such a special experience to witness the classrooms beginning to pulse again as children rediscover the joys of exploration. As we begin our second year in the three year cycle in Children’s House, we reflect back on our daughter Ingrid’s very first experience at Summit almost a year and a half ago. The moment Ingrid saw the active and vibrant classroom on visiting day, she waltzed right in leaving Ms. Shawnee behind in the doorway. Ingrid needed no introduction and no transition; she was already home. Immediately we felt that this was a place where her whole self could flourish.
In our time here we’ve seen that what makes Summit so welcoming is the commitment to building community, not just by the excellent staff, but by all of us: the families of Summit. We are always looking for opportunities to become more involved in the Summit community, through volunteering, chaperoning, or room parenting. Truly it is this community that elevates Summit from simply a school to the exceptional place that welcomed us so warmly.
From the outset, our hope for Ingrid was to be in a school where she could be her whole self, free of judgement. We hoped for a place that would foster her active mind and her independence. In Summit, we found that place. We are so grateful to be a part of this journey at Summit and that is why we choose to give to the Summit Fund.
There are many ways to contribute to this community: large and small, simple and complex. In whatever way we are able to get involved, giving back will help make Summit the rich, welcoming place we’re all so glad to call home. The beginning of the school year is a particularly impactful time where the foundations of community are reinforced. We are so excited to see what this year will bring, and with all our help we know it will be something special.
Sincerely,
Will and Fatin Lind
