Fashion Design I introduces students to fashion, consumer awareness, garment construction, technology, and careers. This course will focus on the design and construction foundations of fashion. Students will examine how the elements and principles of design have changed throughout the years and learn how to apply them to current fashion. They will learn how to hand stitch and safely operate a sewing machine to construct garments and accessories. This hands-on approach can prepare students for many future careers and life experiences.
Students will also have the ability to collaborate on exciting projects such as the Barbie Newspaper Dress Challenge and work within the school community at the school thrift shop, Hilltopper Thrift.
In addition to hands-on projects, students will utilize Google Classroom to review and submit assignments and projects.
In this course, students will focus on the two types of interior design: residential and commercial (retail stores) with the application of fundamental elements and principles of design. Topics include visual merchandising, retail window display design, exploring and creating floor plans, furniture selection and arrangement, budgeting, styles and trends in decorating, history of housing, creating sample/mood boards, sustainability and repurposing/upcycling, consumer considerations, and careers. Students are encouraged to explore their personal style and preferences as they engage in many hands-on activities and interactive lessons. They will also explore the preferences and styles of others in relation to having clients in the industry. Students will get work on several creative proejcts include Holiday window displays and designing a "Shoe Box" room.

This NEW course will focus on the various ways that companies promote and advertise their products and services to consumers. Students will examine the different types of marketing, their effectiveness, and how to tailor their ideas to a specific audience based on their demographics and psychographics.
Students will learn about the functions of marketing including selling, distribution, promotion and product service management in addition to the marketing mix, marketing concept, target marketing and more. Students will construct their own marketing campaigns and identify various goals that they want to achieve through project-based learning.

This NEW course will introduce students to what it takes to start their own business with a focus on the arts & design/ creative industries. Students will be encouraged to think creatively, use innovation, and solve problems that many consumers face every day. Students will research key entrepreneurial figures and examine the skills and management styles that helped to make them successful in today’s growing creative economy. They will become familiar with the various areas of running a business, such as Operations, Finance, and Marketing. Students will construct a Business Plan for an idea of their choice and participate in a Shark Tank style competition with their peers which will be highlighted at the District Arts Festival.
