Course Policies

Materials:

  • Three-ring binder with some lined paper already inside.
  • THIS IS AN ALGEBRA II ONLY BINDER!
  • Pencils and highlighters or colored pencils

You are responsible for keeping a neat, organized binder that will include class notes, handouts, worksheets, quizzes, and homework.

Homework:

  • Homework will be assigned daily and will be checked on a regular basis.
  • YOU MUST BE PREPARED EVERYDAY!
  • Homework is checked for effort, completeness, and knowledge. Homework must be completed in pencil. No credit will be given if completed in pen. You must show ALL work to receive full credit. Each homework assignment is graded on a 2-point scale.

Score of “0” – incomplete or not submitted

Score of “1” – partially complete

Score of “2” – completed at an acceptable level

  • LATE ASSIGNMENTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!

Attendance:

  • Students must arrive to class on time every day.
  • On time means: By the time the bell rings, you are in your seat, your homework is out and you are working on the warm up activity.
  • YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for ANY missed work, regardless of the reason. If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to get the notes, worksheets, as well as make up any missed homework. Notes are posted on my website by the end of each day. Use the class calendar as a guide to see what you will miss. You may always email me when you are out if you have any questions.
  • IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SHOW ME THE MISSED WORK!


Phones may not be kept on your desk. Please leave them in your bag.


There is absolutely no eating during my class.


Bathroom Policy:

  • Students are only permitted to use the bathroom during the first five minutes of class or the last five minutes. No student will be allowed to leave to use the bathroom during lecture.


Grading:

  • Your grade will be based on tests, quizzes and projects, homework, class assignments.
  • Quizzes may or may not be announced.
  • Tests will be announced about a week in advance
  • Generally, tests are 100 points, quizzes are 50 points and daily homework are 2 points. However, the point value of assessments will vary according to the assignment.

There is NO such thing as a stupid question! Asking questions makes everyone understand a little more than before and will make you that much more successful!


  1. NEVER GIVE UPGiving up is NOT an option. Laziness is not tolerated. You are smart and will be successful in this course!


  1. POSITIVITY IS KEY Your mindset is the biggest battle. Negative words are not allowed in the classroom. If you are having a hard time, that is why I am here – to make you better! “I can’t do it”, “This is stupid”, “I will never understand this” are just a FEW of the comments I do not want to hear in this class!
