Team 7B Math
Mr. Morse
Mr. Morse
Welcome to 7th grade mathematics. This year students will be building a strong foundation in problem solving, reasoning, and critical thinking skills, preparing them for high school and beyond.
Course focus:
Math 7 provides a solid foundation in 7th grade mathematics. Students will review and expand on concepts from earlier grades while developing stronger problem-solving strategies.
Goal: By the end of the year, students will be confident in grade-level math skills and prepared to advance to Pre-Algebra in high school and beyond.
Topics include:
Ratios, proportions, and percentages
Operations with integers, fractions, and decimals
Algebraic expressions and equations
Geometry concepts (area, surface area, volume)
Probability and statistics
Introduction to graphing on the coordinate plane
Course focus:
Math 7 Pre-Algebra is designed for students who are ready to move at a quicker pace and begin exploring algebra concepts more deeply. It bridges middle school math with the algebra students will study in high school.
Goal: Students will be well-prepared to take Algebra I in 8th grade or high school.
Topics include:
All Math 7 skills, plus:
Multi-step equations and inequalities
Functions and relations
Linear equations and slope
More complex geometry applications
Advanced problem-solving with ratios and proportions
Course Focus:
The Enriched level is intended for students who demonstrate strong mathematical reasoning and are ready for a challenging, fast-paced curriculum. This class emphasizes critical thinking, application, and enrichment opportunities beyond the standard curriculum.
Goal:
Students will be challenged to think abstractly and apply math to new situations, preparing them for success in Algebra I Honors and advanced math pathways.
Topics include:
All Math 7 Pre-Algebra content, explored in greater depth
Enrichment in algebra, geometry, and real-world applications
Introduction to systems of equations and quadratic ideas
Rigorous problem-solving and project-based learning
My name is Mr. Richard Morse. This is the fourth year being a middle school math teacher. My first two teaching 7th grade in Tenafly , and last year in New Milford. Before becoming a math teacher, I worked on Wall Street for twenty years as a NASDAQ Trader. I love math, especially pre-algebra and algebra and working with young teenagers.
My philosophy is simple. By working hard you will be successful. You may not know everything, or like math but you will. My goal is not only to teach math, but to teach problem solving and critical thinking skills you will use everyday.
