Mathematicians use notebooks to record data, make drawings, ask questions, and much more. Your notes are a mathematical tool that will represent you and your experiences in mathematics this school year. Your math notes will be used daily, so be responsible and make sure that you bring them to class every single day (they should be kept in your trapper keeper). If you are absent, make sure you get a copy of the notes you missed.
Rules:
1. Write neatly and clearly.
2. Copy everything the teacher tells you to write.
3. Do all math work in pencil.
4. Keep units in order and never throw your notes away. They will be graded at the end of each unit.
All homework is due the following day unless I state otherwise. Homework assignments are worth 5 points. Most class work will be done within our math program, Amplify (formerly known as Desmos). The last screen shows if the problems were correct/incorrect/complete/incomplete. Students are to take a screenshot of that slide and then attach it in Google Classroom in order to fully turn in the assignment. All math homework, in class work, tests and quizzes (that are given on paper) should be completed in pencil. Students are required to SHOW ALL WORK. The grading scale for homework is as follows:
5 pts. - Homework will include full name and class period. All work is shown and all problems are completed.
4 pts. - Contains all information from above, but is missing a couple of problems.
3 pts. - Only half of the problems are done and/or no work is shown.
2 pts. - Assignment is incomplete and missing almost all of the problems.
1 pt. - Assignment was incomplete and no work was attempted.
Any student earning a 2 or 1 on a homework assignment will be asked to redo the assignment during advisory time.
Some Friday's the students will have a short quiz (5-10 problems) over information learned during class the past week, or earlier weeks. These quizzes are designed to help students retain important information. Most of the problems will be taken from problems done in-class or on homework assignments.
