9th Grade Honors English I

Welcome to Mrs. Adams' 9th Grade Honors English class.  This year your child will be immersed in many genres of literature and also required to respond via essay format to most of our literature. To prepare your child for AP Literature classes we will focus on AP vocabulary, reading and writing expectations and much more.  I am excited for this new year and hope your child is too.

Textbook:  Prentice Hall’s Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes Gold Level along with various novels.

Reading:  In addition to the textbook, and various articles and poems, students will read Anthem,  Greek and Roman Mythology,  Of Mice and Men, Lord of the Flies and Romeo and Juliet. 

Writing: University Preparatory School uses the Jane Schaffer writing strategy. Once students have mastered the program they are encouraged to move beyond the standard structure.  I will instruct students on how to format all papers for my class.

All assignments will can be accessed by your child through our google classroom and/or Aeries.  Lost documents will not be posted on this website - students will need to see me for those. :)
