Kindergarten Remote Summer Learning Activities

Lexia and Raz-Kids- These are two online programs that students can use to build literacy skills. Lexia is a program that will help build foundational phonics skills. Raz-Kids is a reading program where your child was assigned a specific reading level book to read. Students will go into the Level Up section and read the books provided. Students will listen to the book, read the book themselves and then answer the comprehension questions. Students cannot go onto another book until all three boxes are checked off. Both programs are designed for kids to do themselves without help from an adult because data will be collected and program changes will be modified based on their performance. Login information was sent home with your child.

Reading - Using a picture book, a leveled book, a book on Raz-Kids or a book on Literacy Footprints, read every day! Students can practice talking about and comprehending what they just read. Students can take a picture walk before reading, talk about what they think will happen next or what feelings characters have while reading and then retell, talk about their favorite part and make connections after reading. These skills can be done orally or recorded in response to literature pages. (Response to Literature Pages)

Journal: Students can write about anything they want to write about in their writing journal or on plain paper. They can write true stories , letters, make believe stories, non fiction stories or even poems and songs. We are providing tools to help with spelling like an ABC chart, vowel shield and blends and digraphs chart Students know that sentences start with a capital, have spaces between words and end with punctuation. Don’t forget to make sure your writing is easy to use. You can mail us letters all summer! (Writing Tools and Journal)

DreamBox Learning: This is online math practice. Login information was sent home. Students will be practicing various math skills based on how they do. Students will complete the activities independently because students are instructed based on their performance.

Math Games: There are lots of fun games that you can access through our Investigations Math Program. (Link to Investigations Games) After clicking on the link, make sure you click the K on the right side to get to the kindergarten games. Along the top, you can click on units 1-8 to see all the games we have played throughout the school year. Each game has the directions listed for you.
