Summer-Tips for Preventing Summer Slide
Summer Reading Goals
Students should spend a minimum of 20 minutes a day reading
Establish a daily reading routine (time & place).
Teach students how to think critically about what they’re reading.
Talk to your child about what he/she has read, ask questions, encourage discussions
Ask them what the problem of the story was? How did the characters change?
Expose students to different types of authors and characters.
Help students develop reading and writing skills through different types of reading experiences.
Cherry Laner's are SUNsational!
Along with reading this summer we would like our “SUNsational” Cherry Laner’s to explore activities in all academic areas. You can access a variety of ideas and websites to explore through our Cherry Lane Summer Learning Webpage. Keep track of any websites visited, books read, activities/projects, etc. you complete on your summer learning log.
