From Mrs. Goshe's Desk
It is hard to believe that we are headed into the last weeks of Lent. Let us all continue to pray for and support each other as we journey to the Cross and the Resurrection.
Please also pray for the 31 students, student leaders, and adult leaders who will be attending our last Kairos retreat of this year.
If you are purchasing the STVM car raffle tickets, I hope you will consider having your purchase go toward Campus Ministry. Kairos retreat is expensive and we would like to have a fund to offer scholarships to those who are unable to afford the whole cost but would like to attend Kairos.
On Thursday, we celebrated a whole school Mass and Father Damian Ference, the Vicar for Evangelization for the Diocese of Cleveland was our celebrant. Many mentioned after Mass that they really enjoyed his homily. To hear more from Father Damian you can listen to his podcast The Catholic Pore Over. See the details below.

TOLLE LEGE RETREAT
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
Tolle Lege Summer Institute is a Catholic Institute in the Diocese of Cleveland empowering rising high school seniors to live their faith out in high school and beyond. Rising high school seniors stay at the seminary, and integrate the intellectual life, spirituality, culture, and fun for a great week of community, friendship, and growth.
Applications are due March 27.
Week 1: June 14-19
Week 2: June 21-26
See more about Tolle Lege here!
Jesus, in his three years of public ministry, picked the 12 apostles to accompany him. Marianist Founder, Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, knew that new times called for new measures and worked to form small groups (or sodalities) of lay people to accompany and support each other in their journey of faith. The most current research in Youth Ministry states that relationship and authentic accompaniment are an incredible means to help grow a disciple of Christ for life.
In light of this, Campus Ministry is seeking students interested in forming small faith sharing groups. The groups will be single-sex groups of 5 to no more than 8. The groups will commit to meeting for one hour, once per week. A Catholic mentor from outside the STVM community will, after receiving both ministry training and VIRTUS (the Diocesan program, Protecting God's Children) training, journey in faith with the small group. Groups will do an initial study and then, working with their mentor, determine the next faith step activity.
Students interested in learning more or becoming a member of a Sodality Small Faith Sharing Group should complete this google form. If any students or parents have any questions about this endeavor, please email Mrs. Goshe.
A Journey for High Schoolers
Explore what it means to be "on the way" in our lives, with others and with God. Drawing upon wide and varied resources in the Catholic tradition — including UD's particular Marianist tradition — discuss, explore, read, discover, reflect and learn across four days and nights on UD's campus in the summer. Participants earn one college credit at the University of Dayton. The Dates are June 5-8, 2026. Click here to learn more and to register.
We always welcome new volunteers for the Marianist LIFE Meal Ministry! Each month, a group of parents puts together a meal for the students to enjoy before their meeting. Here's a great article in the Marianist publication Alive, about how the brothers provide meals and fellowship to students at Marianist-sponsored universities, including the popular spaghetti dinners at the University of Dayton. Our meal ministry here at STVM is similar in spirit!
Please email Barbara McKnight at mcknighteb@windstream.net to join this year's group, be put on the SignUp mailing list or if you have any questions.
SUPPLY SNACKS: for our Campus Ministry Office (granola bars, bags of chips, and fruit snacks are wildly popular). Please consider sending us a box or two of granola bars, etc. Donations may be dropped off to the Main Office; please clearly label for Campus Ministry. THANK YOU!
DONATE CASH/FOOD: for Marianist LIFE Nights. Email Barbara McKnight if interested.
Please reach out to Mrs. Goshe if there is something you and your family would like to do to support Emma and her mom. Please continue to help by praying unceasingly.
Extraordinary Jubilee Year of St. Francis
Pope Leo XIV has announced back-to-back jubilees! The Extraordinary Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi, marking 800 years since his death, runs from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027. During this time, the faithful have the opportunity to obtain plenary indulgences (a special grace of God’s mercy) under the usual conditions - Sacramental Confession, detachment from sin, Eucharist, and prayer for the intentions of the pope - by making a pilgrimage to any Franciscan conventual church or place of worship dedicated to St. Francis anywhere in the world.
Our diocesan webpage for the year of St. Francis is live. Please invite youth and young adults to download their passport and make pilgrimage to the nine sites!
If you enjoyed having Fr. Damian Ference celebrate Mass with us this past week, you might enjoy listening to his podcast, Catholic Pore Over! Hosted by Fr. Damian—who serves as the Vicar for Evangelization for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland—and Maria Wancata from Theology of the Body Cleveland, the podcast offers thoughtful conversations about faith, life, and culture specifically geared toward Gen Z. It’s a great way to explore Catholic teaching in a relatable and engaging way! See more HERE!
