Dear STVM Families,
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in our community—students, parents, faculty, and staff—for your collective efforts in upholding our STVM dress code policies. We recognize that there may have been some confusion regarding these guidelines from previous year, and we are grateful for your patience as we work to clarify and enforce them.
To ensure consistency, we are committed to educating students about the dress code, offering opportunities for correction, and applying the policies fairly. Below are some important clarifications and updates regarding our dress code:
Polo Shirts: All students are required to tuck in their polo shirts, ensuring they are neatly tucked in both the front and back.
Belts: If your pants have belt loops, please make sure to wear a belt.
Bags and Backpacks: During the school day, students are not permitted to carry bags, purses, or backpacks. All such items must be stored in student lockers. Students will be allowed to visit their lockers as needed, such as when going to the restroom. This policy helps maintain the safety of all members of our school community. Please know that we will show grace in allowing students to access their lockers when necessary.
Facial Piercings: Nose rings, lip rings, and facial piercings are not allowed during the school day.
Earrings: Male students are not permitted to wear earrings during the school day.
Uniform Skirts: The only acceptable uniform skirt is the Lands' End White Plaid skort. Other colors or styles, including khaki and black skirts or skorts, are not permitted.
Beverages: Water is the only beverage allowed in the building. Coffee, energy drinks, and sports drinks must be consumed in the Student Center during lunch.
Uniform Orders: If you have ordered uniform items that have not yet arrived, please contact Mr. Cochrane for assistance with temporary arrangements.
Electronic Devices: Only school-issued Chromebooks are permitted for use during the school day. Personal computers (e.g., laptops, Macbooks) are not allowed.
We appreciate everyone's patience this week with the scheduling challenges. We have learned a lot and are expanding our electives to meet our students needs and interests. Students will be placed in new electives based on requests and schedule availability.
Official schedule change requests will open on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, Schedule changes will be made only in special circumstances (wrong courses, graduation requirements, medical needs, course failure, documented learning differences, etc.). Requests for specific teachers or free periods cannot and will not be honored. Students will not be given more than one study hall per semester. In light of the schedule challenges we had at the beginning of this year, we will consider waiving the $50.00 schedule change fee should you request additional schedule changes.
A signed Schedule Change Request Form will be required before any schedule change requests will be considered.
There is an updated one-page calendar available here and on STVM.com. Dates are subject to change but this now includes the late start dates, instead of the early dismissal dates.

Ensuring the safety of our students is a top priority, and accurate accounting for all staff and students is essential in case of emergencies. We need your cooperation with the following protocols:
Before School:
7:30 - 7:50 AM: Students should sign in and either stay in the Student Center or go to their before-school supervised club and check in with the teacher.
7:50 - 8:00 AM: Students may head to their lockers and then to their 1st period class. After checking in with the teacher, they should proceed to the Arena for Morning Meeting.
8:00 AM: Students arriving at this time must visit the school office to obtain a Tardy Slip.
8:30 AM: Students who arrive later must present a written excuse (e.g., from a doctor) at the school office to receive a Tardy Slip.
After School:
3:00 - 4:00 PM: Students are welcome to stay in the Student Center during this time.
4:00 PM and later: Students not directly supervised by a coach, teacher, or club supervisor are asked to leave the building.
We watched morning drop off this week and we are addressing the congestion on Market Street. To alleviate the congestion we are going to utilize doors at the top of the hill (Door 11) and at the back of the school (Door 6). We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the guidelines outlined below to help keep everyone safe.
Arrival Option 1:
Bottom of the Hill: Enter the campus from Maple Street at the bottom of the hill. Follow the orange cones on the far right side of the parking lot to Walnut Street, which runs between the school and the Cosgrove building. Students may exit cars at Door 6, located on Walnut Street.
Exiting: Vehicles should exit to West Market Street via Walnut Street or Bates Avenue (near the football stadium). Please do not circle back to exit via Maple Street, as students will be entering the lot to park in their assigned spots.
Arrival Option 2:
Top of the Hill: Enter the campus from Maple Street at the top of the hill. Do not pull into the Bus Lane. You will be directed to either drop off students at the front of the school (Door 11) and turn left to exit onto Smith Street. Or you will be directed to go down the hill and drop off at the back of the school (Door 6). Please unload students out of the passenger side of the vehicle only.
Pick-Up:
Follow the same procedures as for arrival. Additionally, students may be picked up at Door 12 on Maple Street. The Visitor Parking Lot at the corner of Maple Street and Market Street is also available for use during dismissal. Please avoid parking in the bus lane or on Maple Street.
Please note, student drivers coming from the top or bottom of the hill will be directed to the Student Parking Lot.
