Send questions to administration@stvm.com
While you may see schedule updates posted in Blackbaud, these are still not official. Please be patient and wait for Administration to notify you via this communication and Social Media when the schedules are finalized and posted to Blackbaud.
Please wait to contact Administration and Teachers with concerns until we have communicated that final schedules have been released. Appropriate time will be communicated and allotted for schedule changes once schedules are finalized.
We truly appreciate your patience.

In line with Ohio law, STVM will implement a cell phone-free policy starting this fall. During school hours (8:00 AM - 3:00 PM), students will not be allowed to have their cell phones, smartwatches, or other personal electronic devices visible or active. These devices must remain silent and stored in lockers. If you need to reach your child in an emergency, please contact the school, and we will ensure your message is delivered promptly. Students will have access to school phones if they need to make a call or get in touch with an adult. At STVM, we believe that focusing on face-to-face interactions enhances our community. By keeping devices secure during the school day, we help students concentrate on their studies and build important relational skills for becoming engaged and productive citizens. Please review the Ohio Cell Phone Law and complete STVM Cell Phone Policy.
Please Note: The only acceptable electronic devices permitted to be used during the school day within the school building are school issued Chromebooks. No personal computers (i.e. laptops, Macbooks, etc.) are allowed.
STATE SCHOLARSHIP REMINDERS
EdChoice, EdChoice Expansion, Jon Peterson Special Needs, and Autism paperwork must be submitted as soon as possible to statescholarships@stvm.com or turned into the front office. Income verification, if applicable, also needs completed immediately. The State of Ohio has sent letters of acceptance to families with completed paperwork. Last week we published the 2024-2025 dress code policy. Thank you to everyone who reached out and asked clarifying questions. Based on your questions and feedback, we have made one update, and wanted to make a couple of clarifying points:
We have added grey pants back as an option.
Cargo pants were not a part of the approved Dress Code Policy previously and will continue to NOT be permitted.
Logo'd Tommy shirts will continue to be permitted if you already own them however we will no longer be ordering from this vendor.
BSN Team store apparel is not approved as part of the dress code. Approved 1/4 zips and crew neck sweatshirts must be purchased through the school bookstore or from Lands' End. Team apparel will be allowed on spirit days.
High and mid-tops are not approved shoes for the dress code.
Please contact us at administration@stvm.com with any questions and/or pictures to check if specific items or styles are permitted.
As stated, the Dress Code Policy will be enforced. Please take time to review the complete 2024-2025 STVM Uniform Policy.
We value clear and open communication, and with many new faces and expectations for the 2024-2025 school year, we invite all parents and guardians to attend a MANDATORY Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 4, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
During Curriculum Night, you will have the opportunity to walk through your child's schedule, meet their teachers, and learn about the key information and requirements needed for a successful school year.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Ensuring the safety of our students is a top priority, and accurate accounting for all staff and students is essential in case of emergencies. We need your cooperation with the following protocols:
Before School:
7:30 - 7:50 AM: Students should sign in and either stay in the Student Center or go to their before-school supervised club and check in with the teacher.
7:50 - 8:00 AM: Students may head to their lockers and then to their 1st period class. After checking in with the teacher, they should proceed to the Arena for Morning Meeting.
8:00 AM: Students arriving at this time must visit the school office to obtain a Tardy Slip.
8:30 AM: Students who arrive later must present a written excuse (e.g., from a doctor) at the school office to receive a Tardy Slip.
After School:
3:00 - 4:00 PM: Students are welcome to stay in the Student Center during this time.
4:00 PM and later: Students not directly supervised by a coach, teacher, or club supervisor are asked to leave the building.
Ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority. To achieve this, we collaborate closely with Akron Police to maintain safe arrival and dismissal procedures, given our location along high-traffic roads. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the guidelines outlined below to help keep everyone safe.
Arrival:
By Car: Enter the campus from Maple Street at the bottom of the hill. If you're dropping off a student, follow the orange cones on the far right side of the parking lot to Walnut Street, which runs between the school and the Cosgrove building. Students may exit cars at Door 6, located on Walnut Street.
Exiting: Vehicles should exit to West Market Street via Walnut Street or Bates Avenue (near the football stadium). Please do not circle back to exit via Maple Street, as students will be entering the lot to park in their assigned spots. For safety reasons, students cannot be dropped off on Maple Street.
Pick-Up:
Follow the same procedures as for arrival. Additionally, students may be picked up at Door 12 on Maple Street. The Visitor Parking Lot at the corner of Maple Street and Market Street is also available for use during dismissal. Please avoid parking in the bus lane or on Maple Street.

NEW INITIATIVES & CHANGES
The safety of our students is our top priority. To address concerns about students being unsupervised on early release days, we will be shifting our monthly staff Professional Development days from early release to late start days. Previously, when students were released at 1:00 PM, many remained at school until practices began at 3:00 PM, leading to unsupervised and unproductive time.
With the new late start schedule, students will stay at home and likely get a little more time to sleep in. We recognize that this change may impact work schedules for some families. To accommodate this, students may arrive at the Student Center by 8:00 AM where they will be supervised. Please note that once students arrive and check in with the supervising adult, they will not be allowed to leave campus. Breakfast will not be provided on late start days.
Students should report by 10:00 AM on the following dates: 9/11, 10/9, 11/13, 1/15, 2/12, 3/12, and 4/9.
Faith and learning are foundational to our community, so this year students and faculty will gather each day in the arena for prayer and morning announcements. Students should arrive by 8:00 AM and report directly to their first period class. Attendance will be taken, and then students will proceed to the arena for the daily morning meeting.
We are excited to begin each day together, grounded in our faith and committed to a shared expectation of learning.
