Campus Ministry

It is such a privilege to be able to provide Sacraments here at STVM. Over 60 students participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation over the two days it was offered this week. What a tremendous preparation for Easter!

Speaking of Sacraments, I would like to ask for everyone's prayers for senior Megan Kalail. She has been in preparation to become Catholic and will be receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation at the St. Vincent de Paul Easter Vigil.

I would also like to ask everyone to continue to storm heaven to pray for Emma Bryant in her continued battle with cancer. After another major surgery, Emma and her family are truly in need of your love and support. If you are able to offer more than prayer support, you can click here.

Join Marianist LIFE as we "Spring into Service" at our next Marianist LIFE Night on Wednesday, April 9 from 6-8pm in the LRC and Maker Space. We will do some some service for local agencies in need as well as learn about how Christian service can help shape our faith. All are welcome!

Seniors, your service hours for senior year should have been entered into Mobile Serve by April 1. Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman have until May 1 to enter theirs. See below for Mobile Serve login information.

Last call for any Juniors who want to attend Tolle Lege Summer Institute in the Diocese of Cleveland. {Tolle Lege} Summer Institute provides young Catholic men and women with an opportunity to encounter intellectual aspects about their faith and its relevance in the modern world. Through an academic focus on philosophy and theology, balanced by spiritual and cultural components, the camp serves to instruct the hearts and minds of students who are preparing to enter their senior year of high school. LENTEN INFO. & RESOURCES

Lent ends on Holy Thursday as the Triiduum begins. The three pillars of Lent are PRAYER, FASTING, and ALMSGIVING. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops share this about what Lent is:

"Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. We recall the waters of baptism in which we were also baptized into Christ's death, died to sin and evil, and began new life in Christ."

This Lent, I invite and encourage all of us to allow God to show us who we are and who He is. Let us not enter Lent in work mode, executing, in our own strength, what we think we need to do to improve ourselves or grow closer to Him, but rather asking God to tell us what He desires us to do this Lent. In this sacred and true liturgical season, let us allow God to show us how He is faithful and true. God wants to prove to you and me this Lent that He is faithful and true. "Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was called Faithful and True." Revelations 19:11

Service Update

SENIOR SERVICE HOURS WERE DUE APRIL 1st. (This is no April Fools)

JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, and FRESHMAN service hours are due MAY 1st.

SERVICE UPDATE from Mr. Larlham: Students have asked about how to log our service hours. Here is what students should do:

Log into MobileServe.com using your STVM/Google credentials. Freshman have an email in their inbox from TeamMobileServe that will help them claim their account.
If it is your first time logging in (transfers and freshmen), the website will ask you for a School Code, but you can just "skip this" step.
Similarly, MobileServe wants your phone number as a way to verify your identity.
On the home screen, there is a big blue button that will lead you to a few questions about any service hours you do.
It is important that you provide an email address for whomever is supervising your service. Again, MobileServe will ask you for that as you log your service hours.

Lastly, we are making an important change to our service hour classification this year for Sophomores and Freshman. All students are expected to complete 25 service hours this year. For Juniors and Seniors, you are still expected to complete at least 15 of those hours off campus at local non-profit organizations. Sophomores, you are expected to complete at least 10 hours off campus, and Freshmen are expected to complete at least five hours off campus.

Join our Meal Ministry

Thank you to all who donated for the nacho bar at last night's Marianist LIFE meeting! For April's meeting, a pizza night is planned for the students. If you are able to contribute, click here for the SignUp.

All parents are invited to join the meal ministry for Marianist LIFE Nights. Each month, a group of parents plan and donate items and serve a nice meal so that our students can gather in fellowship and nourish their bodies before they nourish their souls! Please consider donating an item or your time to help serve. These meals are truly a highlight of Marianist LIFE each month. LENT RESOURCES FROM THE MARIANISTS

The Society of Mary offers several resources as you navigate your own path through the Season of Lent.

The North American Center for Marianist Studies provides podcasts and the following Lenten meditations, developed and written by Bro. Tom Redmond, SM, narrated by him and Gabby Bibeau.

Throughout Lent at the Marian Library this year, visitors can reflect on Mary’s grief at the death of her son, Jesus, with artwork depicting the Pieta. On loan from the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection, the exhibit will be on display in the Stuart and Mimi Rose Gallery from March 3 to May 9, 2025. “Amidst the sorrow in these scenes, some may find glimmers of hope — hope that must have given Mary strength, too,” said Curator Bridget Retzloff. It is also important to understand why we, as Catholics, hold Mary in high esteem, call her our Mother, and ask for her intercession. This short video with Fr. Mike Schmitz gives a good introduction and explanation to help us to understand our relationship with Mary.

Students Should Download Hallow App and Login

We have been blessed with a donor who has made it possible for us to have the Hallow App for Schools. Hallow is the #1 Prayer App that is a great resource for strengthening the spiritual and mental health of the school community. All of our faculty, staff, and students have access to Hallow for the entire school year. It is a beautiful prayer tool with so many resources to use. Hallow is an incredible resource! Students should download the app today and follow these instructions below to log in.

Prayer Opportunities

Campus Ministry would like to continue to increase the amount opportunities offered to pray together. If you are interested in learning more about any of these opportunities, please email Mrs. Goshe.

Monday - Pray the Litany for Students (together or alone and wherever you are)

Tuesday - Divine Mercy Chaplet - 3 pm - Pray it using Hallow App

Wednesday - 5 Minute Prayer in the LRC immediately after school

Thursday - 15 Minute Lectio Divina/Scripture Study during lunches in Campus Ministry Office

Friday - First Friday Masses at 7:15 am, every other Friday Rosary at 7:25 am. All day Adoration 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month (parents welcome).

Sodality Small Faith Sharing Groups

3 New Sodality groups have begun! We are looking to start a female freshman/sophomore group, a junior/senior male group, and a junior/senior female group. What do you think? Is this you? Please email Mrs. Goshe if this is you.

Campus Ministry is seeking students interested in forming small faith sharing groups. The groups will be single-sex groups of 5 to no more than 8. The groups will commit to meeting for one hour, once per week. A Catholic mentor from outside the STVM community will, after receiving both ministry training and VIRTUS (the Diocesan program, Protecting God's Children) training, journey in faith with the small group. Groups will do an initial study and then, working with their mentor, determine the next faith step activity.

Students interested in learning more or becoming a member of a Sodality Small Faith Sharing Group should complete this Google form. If any students or parents have any questions about this new endeavor, please email Mrs. Goshe.

Jubilee Year of Hope

Bishop Malesic has designated eleven Sacred Jubilee Sites -- eight parishes (one in each county of the diocese) and three shrines -- at which a plenary indulgence can be obtained. Click HERE for more information. Fr. Damian Ference, Vicar for Evangelization, will be speaking on the jubilee at each of the eight parishes. Bring your teens to the one near you!

Eucharistic Revival

Returning from the National Eucharistic Congress, our Diocesan Delegates were brimming with hope and excitement. Their hope is to bring a little piece of the national Congress home to Cleveland in five “mini” congresses during the Lenten season. Campus Ministry Theme, Mission and Vision

THEME - NEW FOR 2024-25 - H.O.P.E. - which is an acronym for: Helping Others Pursue Eternity. This year, Campus Ministry is hoping to help our students not only pursue their own eternity, but also continue to learn how to share their faith to help others pursue eternity too. St. Padre Pio and his saying, "Pray, hope, and don't worry," will be used as we journey in faith through the year. The Jubilee Year of Hope begins with the Year of Prayer, and so, we will help others prepare for eternity as we learn and share how to grow in relationship with God through prayer. Here is a special Litany Prayer to pray each Monday for all our students.

MISSION - Teach, share, support, and live the Mission of St. Vincent- St. Mary and the Marianist Characteristics of Education with an emphasis on invitation and hospitality.

VISION - Every day, every person, every interaction, an encounter with Christ.
