This will count as one test grade for the semester.
You will be assigned ONE free-response problem from an AP chemistry exam.
Research your problem BEFORE you present.
Teach the class how to solve the problem following these guidelines:
Present for 8-10 mins.
Show every part of the problem.
Show all work, correctly including units.
Present from memory (No notes! The question will be projected on the screen.)
Have good eye contact .
Be easy to hear. (Practice beforehand!)
Interact with the class. Make it fun! Ask questions and elicit responses. *
Tell us the topic(s) covered by your problem in the beginning of your presentation.
Be an active audience member during other presentations
PRESENTATION TIPS:
Relax! You know about your topic more than anyone else in the audience. That makes you smarter than them!
Practice! Rehearse in an empty room, to no one. Get comfortable with your topic and your words.
This is an exercise in teaching as well as presenting. Be enthusiastic about what you’re teaching us. Your energy will translate into the audience’s engagement.
GRADING:
100 = Outstanding & unforgettable
95 = Excellent
90 = Good
85 = Fair
75 = Poor
Good participation during another presentation (e.g. asking questions, answering questions, looking up information, performing calculations, etc.), can earn you extra credit.
Poor participation during other’s presentations can result in -1, -2, or -3 points!
