Hello Parents,
My name is Jennifer Weglein and I am the band teacher at St. Ursula School. This is my twenty fourth year at St. Ursula. Our bands are top notch and well known for our superior performances at concerts and festivals. I am looking forward to teaching your children how to play an instrument. Learning an instrument helps students develop all types of intelligences. It can be such a rewarding experience to be part of an ensemble as well as watching individual growth as a musician.
BEGINNERS
All students in their first year of band meet during the school day on Fridays (no after school).
Students meet with me in small groups for their lessons.
The class is 30 minutes and is taught on a rotating schedule.
Lessons begin on October 1 for beginners.
ADVANCED STUDENTS
Concert Band
Students in Concert Band are in their second year of band.
We meet during the school day on Fridays for a small group lesson and also have a full band rehearsal every Friday from 3:00-3:50pm in the gym.
First session is October 1 for Concert Band.
Symphonic Band
Students in Symphonic Band are in their third - fifth year of band.
We meet during the school day on Mondays for a small group lesson and also have a full band rehearsal every Monday from 3:10-4:10pm in the gym.
First session is September 27 for Symphonic Band.
CONCERTS
Both beginner and advanced students will play at our school Christmas concert (12/13/21) and Spring Concert (5/16/22). In past years, our advanced bands have played annual concerts at The Shops at Kenilworth, the band festival at Notre Dame Prep, and the Hersheypark Band Festival.
I will be calling your home or cell phone to go over this information and to find out if your child will be signing up for band. I understand that this is a big decision for you and your child, and I look forward to discussing this exciting possibility with you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Weglein
