Reading: We will finish unit 5: Lesson 21:Working Together. We will listen to the story, "Simon and Molly plus Hester," in order to identify the setting, characters, and problem in the story. We will listen to the story, "Zin! Zin! Zin! a violin," in order to understand tstory sequence. We will identify key details from the story. We will use our book handling skills in order to read "Make It Pop! and "My Dog Tom," in our student readers in small groups. I can use clues from the pictures to help me read. We will review, identify, write and read all 6 of the sight words from this week; give, make, new, play, say, & them. We will use our sight words to write/read them in sentences. We will recognize, write, and learn the beginning sound of the letter Oo- Ozzie Octopus. We will continue reviewing rhyming, initial, ending and middle sounds, and parts of a word with Heggerty. Â
Sight words: I, like, the, and, see, we, a, to, come, me, with, my, you, what, are, now, how, is, many, of, so, where, but, came, find, from, on, this, be, into, that, who, will, your, go, here, soon, for, they, up, give, make, new, play, say & them.
Math: We will start unit 12: Subtraction to 10. Students will form subtraction stories and write them using symbols. Students will also master subtraction fluency within 5.Â
Handwriting: We will be working on our FIRST & LAST names Kindergarten style. A capital letter at the beginning of our name and the rest lowercase. (ie. Deirdre Callinan). Â
Religion: "Jesus invites us to see and believe. We will listen to the Gospel, "Jesus heals a blind man." We will recognize the gift of sight. We will identify that when we help others, we help Jesus.Â
Social Studies:  We will start a unit on Force and Motion. We can explain that nonliving things need help to move and move in different ways. We can identify pushes and pulls. We will learn about things we can push, pull, and both. Students will be able to solve addition problems within 10. Students wil be able to demonstrate when addition or subtraction are being applied.Â
